£799pp – Croatia: small-ship island-hopping summer cruises
Navigate some of Croatia's most picturesque spots in peak summer
"One of the chief delights on any visit to Croatia is hopping between the islands," says the BBC. You can do exactly that on this small-ship cruise from Sail Croatia. It's now £799 per person for a peak-summer cruise from Split to the islands of Mljet and Hvar, plus the city of Dubrovnik. That's a saving of £200 on previous prices.
- 7-night cruise aboard an Elegance Premier Plus Ship, in a Lower Deck Cabin
- Daily breakfast and 3-course lunch
- A captain's dinner evening and one traditional dinner in a village
- Return transfers from Split airport (start and end date only)
The cruise departs from Split on 15 July; 5, 12 August. Flights are not included.
A similar sailing, starting from Dubrovnik and ending in Split, is also available for the same price on 12 August.
The cruise begins in Split with a 3-course lunch served as you sail to Bol, the home of Zlatni Rat beach, on the island of Brač. Next, after a swim stop en route, is Hvar, described by Lonely Planet as Croatia's "most luxurious island" and home to a swanky harbour, trendy bars and restaurants.
After an overnight stay in Hvar, you'll continue to Mljet, where you can visit Mljet National Park with its two inland salt lakes and 12th-century Benedictine monastery (entry fee applies). You can spend the afternoon exploring and then relax on the top deck with a cocktail after.
On day four, you'll arrive in UNESCO-protected Dubrovnik for an afternoon walking tour of the walled city. From Dubrovnik, the next port of call is Korčula, best known for its vineyards and pretty old town. In the evening, there is a traditional Croatian dinner in the village of Žrnovo for all guests.
The next day, the ship sails along the coast to Makarska. The Daily Telegraph is full of praise for Makarska, calling it one of the "best unsung beach holiday resorts in Europe".
You'll then make your way back to Split, stopping at a bay just outside the city for a swim stop. Split's historic centre -- described as "spectacular" by Fodor's -- is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
All Elegance Premier Plus Ships were specifically built for small-ship sailing, and can easily navigate to, and dock in, smaller ports. They have capacity for 36-40 passengers, meaning there is an intimate atmosphere on board.
All ships have air-conditioned modern ensuite cabins, a sun deck, a shaded lounge area, a splash pool and free Wi-Fi.
Stay in an Above Deck Cabin for £1299 per person.
