Hotel details
This eccentric hotel sits above St Peter Port, and has bags of character, with a safari-chic theme running throughout. Rooms are large and feel "rather like jewellery boxes", says Condé Nast Traveller, with each being individually decorated. Tucked away in some corridors and lounges, you'll find original masterpieces by Picasso, Matisse, and Lowry.

Foodie perks are included, covering a full afternoon tea, a cocktail-making masterclass, and an evening meal at the hotel's award-winning restaurant. It has an open show kitchen so you can see the team of chefs hard at work.

The pretty cobblestoned streets of the capital are just a short stroll down the hill. Visit the 800-year-old Castle Cornet, which boasts four period gardens, or the fascinating war museum, set in the tunnel complex built during the German Occupation.

In October and November, you'll catch the huge fixed-price food festival, Tennerfest. Local restaurants each promote set menus from just £10 per person—expect everything from Asian fusion dishes to classic bistro dishes and fresh seafood platters.
