Barceló Fortina Malta is a high-end hotel with stylish public places. Most of these have views over the UNESCO-listed old town of Valletta across the bay.
Dip your toes in the heated indoor pool, or work out at the gym. For serene times, book a massage or beauty treatment at the spa. It has a sauna, experience showers, and a steam room. Just across the promenade, padded loungers surround the outdoor pool. It is open year-round (weather permitting; not heated).
Late risers will appreciate extended breakfast times. It is served until 10:30am on weekdays and 11am on weekends. Your package also includes dinner at the hotel's restaurant. The seaview bar offers liquors and cocktails from morning until after midnight.

About the area
This 5-star hotel is along the waterfront of Sliema. This is where "Malta's cool crowd flock to eat, drink, shop, and party" (Lonely Planet). The ferry terminal is a short stroll from the main entrance. There are regular crossings across the bay to the capital, Valletta. Bus stops are also nearby, providing easy access to the rest of the island. The charming Baroque towns of Mdina and Rabat are about 40 minutes away.
