The trip starts in Colombo, Sri Lanka's capital and largest city, with a welcome dinner and a sightseeing tour. Next, you'll head to Sigiriya, where you'll see Lion Rock, go on a jeep safari at Minneriya National Park -- known for its herds of free-ranging elephants -- canoe across Agoda Wawe lake, enjoy an evening bullock-cart ride through nearby villages, and see a cookery demonstration with lunch.
You'll also visit the Dambulla Cave Temple (a UNESCO World Heritage site), and the Matale spice gardens, where you will sample homeopathic remedies, have a head-and-shoulder massage, see a cooking demonstration (with lunch) and learn how spices are cultivated.
Once in Kandy -- the "undisputed cultural capital of the island" (Rough Guides) -- you will visit the Temple of the Tooth, Sri Lanka's most important Buddhist shrine, and see a cultural dance show in the evening. Accommodation is at the Topaz Hotel, where you'll stay for two nights -- dinner with a free glass of wine is included on both nights. The tour concludes in Nuwara Eliya, known as Little England because of its Tudor-style hotels and well-tended gardens. You'll take a heritage train ride and a trip to a tea plantation for a factory tour and tasting session.
From Sri Lanka, you'll fly to the Maldives for a 4-night all-inclusive stay at the deluxe Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi resort. The hotel is set on the island of Hudhuranfushi, which has plentiful white-sand beaches and a lagoon. Facilities at the hotel include two restaurants, three bars, a swimming pool, a spa and a fitness centre.
There is an on-site reef for snorkelling. Lonely Planet says, "stunning white-sand beaches and an amazing underwater world make the Maldives an obvious choice for a true holiday of a lifetime". You'll also take a trip to nearby Barefoot Island, which includes a cocktail on the beach.
