The trip will start with three nights in Havana. The Hotel Nacional de Cuba is the city's landmark hotel, set a few metres from the Malecón and with views of the city harbour. This Art Deco gem has hosted a string of famous guests, including Frank Sinatra, Winston Churchill and Ernest Hemingway, and the garden terrace bar makes a perfect place to sample the country's signature mojito cocktail.
During your stay, you'll also take a tour of Havana in a classic car, calling at the Malecón, Revolution Square and Old Havana.
You'll then travel down to Cienfuegos, which is perched on the edge of picturesque natural bay on Cuba's south coast. During your stay, you'll have the chance to see its UNESCO World Heritage architecture and stroll along its waterfront promenades.
Your next stop will be Trindad to explore the streets and colourful colonial architecture of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Trinidad is also well placed for visiting the mansions of Valle de los Ingenios (the sugar-cane plantations) aboard a steam train and the dazzling white sands of Ancon Beach, which is 15 minutes away by bus or taxi. And don't forget to visit the hub of the town's nightlife, the al fresco Casa de la Música, where you can enjoy salsa dancing and drinks under the stars.
You'll then travel to Cayo Santa Maria -- a small island off Cuba's northern coast described as "a slice of paradise" by the Daily Mirror -- calling at the Che Guavara Mausoleum in Santa Clara on the way. You'll stay at the Starfish Cayo Santa Maria, a 24-hour all-inclusive resort set on a white-sand beach. Facilities include three restaurants, an outdoor pool and a fitness centre. You'll return to Havana for a final night before flying home.
