About the hotel
AMC Royal Hotel & Spa is a 5-star resort on the shores of the Red Sea. It has a private beach, a swimming pool with a swim-up bar, and four restaurants. Meals are included at the international buffet, and drinks are included throughout the resort.
About the cruise
The pace of the voyage is very relaxed—go on guided excursions or explore by yourself. Sailing along the riverbank, you'll see the flicker of daily life as you relax on the sundeck. You'll also be able to hear the call to prayer ring out at sunset. Guided excursions are not included unless you add an excursion pack.
The light excursion package costs from £159 per person, and includes:
- Karnak... the world's largest temple complex, with colossal statues and obelisks.
- Luxor... the temple is right next to the cruise port and has several huge sphinxes.
- Kom Ombo... overlooks the water and is dedicated to the crocodile gods.
- Philae... an island-based temple surrounded by bobbing sailboats and kingfishers.
- Edfu... with some of the best preserved and richly-coloured ancient hieroglyphs.
The full excursion package costs from £199 per person. Choose this if you'd also like to journey inside the tombs of the Valley of the Kings. Or, visit the mortuary temple of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut.
