The tour begins in Dubai, with a 4-night stay at the ibis Styles Dubai Jumeira, a 15-minute drive from Jumeira Public Beach. You'll get plenty of free time to explore the city's sights, such as the iconic Burj Al Arab Hotel, which has an underwater aquarium restaurant, or the maze of courtyard cafés, art galleries and museums in the historic Al Fahidi district.
While in Dubai, you'll ride in a 4x4 into the desert, where you'll have a barbecue dinner and lounge in hammocks under the stars.
The tour continues to Oman's capital, Muscat, where you'll go on a half-day tour to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque -- which contains the world's second-largest hand-woven Iranian carpet -- the Bait Al Zubair Museum and Muttrah Souk, "an absorbing labyrinth of narrow, perfume-laden alleyways packed with colourful little shops" (Rough Guides).
After two nights in Muscat, you'll head southeast to Ras Al Hadd for dinner and a visit to Ras al-Jinz to see the nesting site of the endangered green turtle. Before arriving in Ras Al Hadd, the tour stops in the small fishing town of Qurayyat, and Tiwi and Fins for a chance to swim in the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Oman. You'll also stop at Wadi Shab, a subterranean cave with a waterfall, translucent blue water and lush fauna.
The following day, you'll head to the natural pools of Wadi Bani Khalid and the impressive sand dunes at Sharqiya Sands, where you'll enjoy a dinner of Arabian delicacies and spend the night in a Bedouin-style camp.
After breakfast in the desert, the tour continues to the ancient city of Nizwa, where you'll have free time to look around before your return flight back to the UK the following morning. Nizwa highlights include the 17th-century Nizwa Fort and Nizwa Souq, one of the oldest markets in Oman.
- For an extra £35 per person, add a guided city tour of Dubai, which includes a boat ride to visit the Gold Souk and Spice Souk
- For an extra £100 per person, add a day excursion to Abu Dhabi, including a visit to Yas Island where the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is held
