The tour starts in Amman, the capital of Jordan. During your stay, you'll take a tour of the city, including visits to the citadel and the Roman Theater, as well as historic Jerash and 12th-century Ajloun Castle. You'll also head east to see the stunning desert castles that are dotted around Jordan's central hills and the Dead Sea, where you can float in its hypersaline waters.
Next, you'll take the scenic drive along the King's Highway to Petra. En route, you'll call at Madaba, home to an ancient and intricate mosaic of the Holy Land; Mount Nebo, said to be where Moses first saw the Promised Land; and Shobak Castle, a Crusader castle dating from the 1100s.
The next day, you'll take a guided tour of Petra -- an ancient city in the desert with buildings carved out of the sandstone. The Independent says this city is "one of the world's most compelling historical sites, up there with the Taj Mahal and the Pyramids for romance and visual drama".
After this, you'll visit Little Petra, before taking a 4x4 ride through Wadi Rum, known as the "Valley of the Moon" for its desert landscape. You'll spend a night in Wadi Rum at the Captain's Desert Camp.
