The Crown Plaza Harrogate is a 4-star hotel with "smart, comfortable rooms with superb views, quality staff and an excellent location", says The Daily Telegraph. It's within walking distance of the town centre and the Montpellier Quarter's boutiques, cafés and bars -- plus the famous Betty's Café Tea Rooms is nearby.
Breakfast and dinner, which are included in this offer, are served in the Springs Restaurant, which serves local produce where possible.
The tour starts in Harrogate, where you'll have free time to explore this spa town. Visit the Royal Pump Room Museum to learn about the sulphur wells which bathed thousands of visitors in the 19th and 20th centuries, less than 10 minutes' walk from the hotel.
After breakfast, you'll catch the train to York for a guided walking tour of the city's main sights, including York Minster, which showcases Gothic architecture at its best, and The Shambles, a narrow cobbled street lined with timber-framed Elizabethan buildings. You then get the rest of the day free before heading back to Harrogate for the night.
The following morning you'll take a coach to Whitby, with a short stop in Goathland, also known as Aidensfield in the TV show "Heartbeat" and Hogsmeade in the "Harry Potter" films. On arrival in Whitby, you get the rest of the day to yourself, before taking a trip on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, and then heading back to Harrogate.
The tour continues with a coach journey to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway -- the filming location of "The Railway Children" -- where you'll board a steam train to Oxenhope. It includes a commentary about the history of the railway and a stop at Haworth, where you'll visit the Brontë Parsonage, home to the Brontë sisters who wrote Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre, before heading back to Harrogate for the final night.
