Itinerary
Your journey begins in Tokyo, where tradition and technology thrive side by side. A guide will help you navigate Japan's seamless public transport system to your hotel.
The next day, explore Tokyo with a local guide. Visit the Hokusai Museum, Asakusa’s Senso-ji Temple and the Imperial Palace gardens. Walk the vibrant streets of Ginza before taking in skyline views from Bunkyo Civic Centre. Lunch is included.
You'll then have a day to discover the city at your own pace. Admire the Great Buddha, stroll through temple gardens, or explore the quirky neighbourhood of Harajuku.
On day five, board a bullet train to Kanazawa, then travel by coach to Shirakawa-go. This remote mountain village is dotted with traditional thatched-roof farmhouses, and is a UNESCO site. You'll then continue on to Kaga Onsen, a spa town known for its centuries-old hot springs. Enjoy a soak in the hot springs followed by a seasonal kaiseki dinner.
Return to Kanazawa to visit the manicured Kenroku-en Garden and the Nomura Samurai Residence. This historical home displays armour passed down through generations. Walk the geisha quarters of Higashi Chaya, then travel to Osaka.
Day seven takes you on a full-day outing to Himeji. Tour the striking White Heron Castle and Koko-en Garden.
Continue to Hiroshima by coach. Take a ferry to Miyajima Island to see the much-photographed Itsukushima Shrine. Back in Hiroshima, visit the Peace Memorial Museum and Atomic Bomb Dome. Later, board the bullet train to Kyoto.
On a packed day of sightseeing in Kyoto, visit the Golden Pavilion and the stone gardens of Ryoan-ji. In Nara, meet the sacred deer of Nara Park and see the giant Buddha at Todai-ji. End the day walking beneath thousands of torii gates at Fushimi Inari. The next day is at leisure in Kyoto.
On your final day, take a bus to Kansai Airport for your flight home.
