Itinerary
- Tashkent… start with a guided afternoon tour of architectural masterpiece Navoi Theatre and sample the culinary delights of Chorsu Bazaar. We also recommend a stop at Moyie Mubarek Library, home to the oldest Koran, and the Madrasa's Towers, where you can hear the call to prayer.
- Khiva… this fortified oasis city lies along the Silk Road trading route. Enjoy a walking tour and marvel at the Itchan Kala architectural complex, Kunya Ark (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the Juma mosque. You'll then have a day to spend exploring the atmospheric Old Town and ancient fortresses.
- Bukhara… after crossing the Kyzylkum Desert, stopping for a barbeque lunch, and seeing the Amu Darya River, you'll reach Bukhara. Here, you'll visit the Ismail Samani mausoleum, the holy spring of Chashma-Ayub, and the amazing Ark citadel. The next day, there’s a walking tour of the madrasahs, Maghoki Arrar Mosque, and tea houses of Lyabi-Khauz Square.
- Samarkand… take a guided tour to Registan square, where you can admire spectacular madrasas from the 15th-17th centuries, and the Bibi-Khanym Mosque. The next morning, tour the Ulug Beg Observatory and Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum (also known as Tamerlane's Tomb), built in the early 15th century. After breakfast the following morning, you will visit the Khujum factory for silk carpet hand-crafting, and the Meros workshop for mulberry tree paper. You'll have your final afternoon and morning free before before taking the high-speed train back to Tashkent for your flight home.
