Itinerary
The first stop on the tour is Chiang Rai. Visit the Hilltribe Museum and Education Centre, as well as the Yao and Akha tribes. See the Golden Triangle, where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet, then continue to Chiang Saen. Here, you'll visit the hilltop Wat Phra That Chom Kitti. This beautiful temple also has sweeping views out to the countryside.
Next, head to Chiang Mai. Drive through jungle landscapes up to the mountaintop temple of Wat Phra Doi Suthep. This temple is adorned in beautiful decorations, and looks out across the city. Then, head to the riverbank for a cruise along the scenic River Ping. You'll stop at a farm for khao soi noodle curry and a traditional dance performance. The next day, visit an eco-farm that specialises in making paper products from elephant dung. You'll learn about the history of traditional papermaking, and get to try your hand at making some too. In the afternoon, you'll go on a tour of the city.
On the way to Sukhothai, you'll visit the picturesque towns of Lamphun and Lampang. After lunch, you'll arrive in Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Come morning, join locals in offering food to Buddhist monks during their daily alms round.
In Ayutthaya, you'll visit another park that's been granted UNESCO World Heritage status. Visit the temple of Wat Phra Si Sanphet and the adjacent Viharn Phra Mongkol Bophit. The next day, you'll continue on to Kanchanaburi. This quiet town is at the confluence of the rivers Kwai Noi and Kwai Yai. It's famous for being the filming location of 'Bridge on the River Kwai'.
The final stop on the tour will be Thailand's capital, Bangkok. Visit one of the incredible floating markets, where locals sell flowers and delicacies from boats. You'll have the next day to yourself to explore the city at your own pace. We recommend visiting the Royal Grand Palace and the What Phra Kaew. This is considered Bangkok's most sacred temple, as its home to the famous Emerald Buddha. Come evening, you'll have the option of a dinner cruise along the Chao Phraya river.
