Start your journey with an overnight stay in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu, before catching a flight to Bhutan for a 6-night tour of the country. Begin the tour in Thimphu, via a scenic drive with views of the Paro valley. Lonely Planet calls Bhutan's capital "one of the world's most intriguing destinations", due to the juxtaposition of its traditional Buddhist way of life and an increasing commercial presence.
Next travel to Punakha -- en route you'll visit the 15th-century Chimi Lhakhang temple, accessible only by walking through paddy fields. During your stay in the city, you'll visit the Punakha Dzong, one of the country's most impressive buildings thanks to its size and intricate gilded interior.
You'll then head to the town of Paro. Here, you'll visit the National Museum, the Kyichu Lhakhang temple, started in the 7th century, and the Rimpung Dzong fortress. You'll also head out of the city and hike 2-3 hours to visit the Paro Taktsang (Tiger's Nest Monastery), perched high on a cliff edge.
Finally, you'll fly back to Kathmandu, where you'll have a full day (unguided) to explore the city, before your return flight the following day.
There is a tourism tax of between £155-£195 per person, per day, to visit Bhutan -- this is included in the deal price.
