Itinerary
You'll start this once-in-a-lifetime adventure in Quito. You'll have a day at leisure to explore the city—the oldest in South America. Admire the colonial-era architecture and picturesque plazas.
Then you'll board a flight to San Cristobal in the Galápagos. This is the island that Charles Darwin first explored during his research into the islands. After settling into your hotel, you'll be picked up by taxi for a trip to Loberia Beach. See the resident sea lion colony, and go snorkelling to spot turtles and marine iguanas.
The next day is free to explore this biodiverse paradise at your own pace.
On day six, take a speedboat to Santa Cruz island (approximately 2.5 hours) and check into your hotel. In the afternoon, take a tour of Santa Cruz Bahia. See the area's beautiful bays, and keep your eyes peeled for blue-footed boobies.
After another day to explore at leisure, you'll fly back to Quito. A local guide will show you around the city's markets and plazas. You'll then travel through the Ecuadorian Highlands until you arrive in the Amazon rainforest. Head out on a night walk to discover the rainforest's thriving wildlife.
The following day, set out on a guided walk to a spectacular waterfall. Learn about the rainforest's flora and fauna en route.
On your journey back to Quito, you'll stop at the village Papallacta, nestled high in the Andes. It's known for its therapeutic thermal waters, which you can choose to bathe in (USD$10, payable locally).
