Itinerary highlights
The tour starts in Bogotá…"Colombia's beating heart" that's "cradled by chilly Andean peaks and steeped in sophisticated urban cool" (Lonely Planet). You'll get to know Colombia's trendy capital with a panoramic tour of Bogota. Discover the atmospheric streets of the colonial La Candelaria area, taking in Bolívar Square (the city's main square), the Cathedral, the Palace of Justice and the huge Botero Museum, which features artworks by Picasso, Monet and Fernando Botero himself. The day will end with a visit to the fascinating Gold Museum, where you'll admire ancient pieces of Pre-Colombian goldsmiths. Then, the evening is yours to take in the glitzy nightlife of the Zona Rosa district or laid-back ambience of the old town.

The following day you'll find your bearings around the city and further explore the historic plazas and cobblestone streets of the capital. The next morning, you'll fly to Armenia, surrounded by the peaks of the Western Andes and home to lively plazas and historic architecture.

After some rest, explore Colombia's coffee-growing region of Cocora Valley in Quindo, a protected area with cloud forest, towering palm trees, rare fauna, and exotic birds such as yellow-eared parrots. You'll cross the Quindío River, before continuing to pretty Salento to visit the Plaza de Bolivar and the Cocora viewpoint to take in the sweeping views and breathtaking scenery.

The next day, it's a quick transfer to the airport for a flight to the hillside metropolis of Medellín for a colourful city's tour. From Lleras Park to the Golden Mile, soak up the laid-back ambience and beauty of Colombia's second-largest city. Enjoy a stroll through the Botero Sculpture Park and take the metro cable car up to the hill station of Santo Domingo, for amazing views of the city and its contrasting neighbourhoods. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure and experience the city after dark, when it "lets its hair down" and attracts the "beautiful people" (Lonely Planet), who dance until dawn in one of its many night spots. They'll be more free time the next day and we’d recommend sampling the tasty local cuisine at one of the the endless street food stalls scattered around the city.

A week of exploring can only be topped by some beach-side bliss in Santa Marta, a busy port city with pristine beaches and plenty of natural beauty. During a few days here, you can explore the Spanish-influenced architecture and charming atmosphere of the Old Town or relax on its sugar-white sands

After some slower-paced days, you'll head to colourful Cartagena, Colombia's most romantic city according to some and the tour's final stop. There's a tour of the city's colonial district, starting in Boca Grande, Castillo Grande and Manga until you arrive at the majestic Castillo de San Felipe. Visit the Church of San Pedro Claver and end with a stroll through the charming walled area to admire Colombia's "crown jewel" (Forbes) full of pretty leafy squares, narrow streets and houses with balconies decorated with flowers.
