Fly from London Heathrow on 11, 23 January; 3, 11, 22 May; 2 June; 14 September; 23 November; 3 December, 2020; 11, 18 January; 1, 15 February; 1, 15 March; 3, 17 May; 7, 14 June, 2021.
You'll be greeted at the airport by a local guide and transported to your hotel in Kathmandu, where you'll have a free evening to get to know the city. The next day, you will explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu shrine of Pashupatinath and Boudhanath, one of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world.
On the fourth day of your holiday, you'll arrive in Pokhara and spend two days exploring the surrounding area, including Phewa Lake, Gupteswar Cave temple and Devi's Falls. From there, you'll also take an early-morning drive to Sarangkot to see the sun rise behind the Annapurna mountain range. You can choose to either hike back to Pokhara or return in the coach.
You'll then head to Chitwan National Park, which teems with wild rhinos, tigers, leopards and deer. Chitwan is "one of the best wildlife-viewing national parks in Asia", according to Lonely Planet, and you'll immerse yourself thoroughly on a guided nature walk -- it will include bird-watching, a jeep safari through its dense jungle and a peaceful ride along the Rapti River in a traditional tree canoe.
You will return for an overnight stay in Kathmandu, before flying out to Bhutan the following day. Lonely Planet calls Bhutan's capital, Thimphu, "one of the world's most intriguing destinations", due to the juxtaposition of its traditional Buddhist way of life and an increasing commercial presence. You'll visit attractions such as the fortress-like, 12th-century temple of Changangkha Lhakhang, and head up to Sangaygang View Point for a sunset view of the city and the scenic valley.
Next, you'll travel to Punakha. En route, you'll visit the 15th-century Chimi Lhakhang temple, which is accessible only by walking through paddy fields. During your stay in the city, you'll visit the Punakha Dzong, one of the country's most impressive buildings thanks to its size and intricate gilded interior.
You'll then head to the town of Paro, where you'll visit the National Museum, the Kyichu Lhakhang temple, started in the 7th century, and the Rinpung Dzong fortress. You'll also head out of the city and hike 2-3 hours to visit the Paro Taktsang (Tiger's Nest Monastery), which is perched high on a cliff edge.
Finally, you'll return to Kathmandu in Nepal for one more night, before flying home to the UK.
Add a 6-night Golden Triangle tour in India, including flights, transfers, accommodation and excursions, from an extra £499 per person.
