Depart from London Heathrow on 20 January; 17 February; 16 March, 2020.
Fly on 6 March or 24 April from £1799 per person.
Your trip will start with a 2-night stay in Lima, where you'll get a guided tour of the city, including the historic centre (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the 16th-century cathedral and the Larco Museum. When we visited the city, we loved eating at the cevicherias, where you'll find the freshest seafood cooked in zesty lime juice.
On your second full day in Peru, you'll take a short flight to Arequipa, from where you'll start your trip into Colca Valley -- one of the world's deepest canyons. The area is scattered with volcanoes and thermal springs, and there's still a strong traditional Peruvian culture in the villages.
After a night in the valley, you'll continue to Puno, which will be the base for your trip on Lake Titicaca, which is on the border of Peru and Bolivia and is the largest lake in South America. You'll spend a night on Amantani Island, where you'll have dinner and stay with a local family. You'll also visit Taquile Island and the floating Uros Islands, where you'll find traditional crafts and clothing, as well as incredible views.
Next, you'll head to Cusco, which is an ideal base for trips to the Sacred Valley and is particularly atmospheric at night, when its historic plazas are lit up. On your final full day, you'll visit Machu Picchu. The Inca city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the ruins -- set between two forest-clad Andean peaks -- are a must-see on a trip to Peru.
