About the show
"The Entertainer" was chosen by The Guardian theatre critic Michael Billington as one of the 101 greatest plays ever written. First produced and debuted in 1957, the updated play follows Archie Rice (Shane Richie), a washed-up entertainer playing a summer season. As his soldier son sails with the Task Force to liberate the Falklands, his daughter Jean returns from campaigning against the war, and Archie's professional and personal lives collide with devastating consequences.
"John Osborne wrote The Entertainer in 1957 when Britain was a country in crisis and its people were embittered, disillusioned and tired. There can't be a better time to stage a revival than right now" -- The Stage
