Welcome to South Korea
Though it's small, South Korea is well connected. Two flights operate daily out of London Heathrow to Seoul, and Virgin is launching a route in March, 2026. It's also visa-free for up to 90 days for UK passport holders. Combine a trip there easily from surrounding countries like Japan, Thailand, China, Taiwan, and Vietnam.

Exploring the capital
Seoul is a fascinating mash-up of traditional and cutting-edge. Taste sizzling street food in Gwangjang market, or check out the latest trends in the Myeong-dong shopping district. Go for a dip in a classic jjimjilbang bathhouse, or sip soju with K-Pop fans in Gangnam. Use a transport pass to get about seamlessly.

Flavours to savour
Foodies will be well catered for on a trip to South Korea. Get acquainted with a bibimbap rice bowl, or tuck into succulent bulgogi. Grill your own meat at a traditional BBQ restaurant, or tuck into crispy fried chicken. Of course, no trip is complete without trying the national dish, kimchi. It's a staple at every meal!

Go off the beaten path
Once you've discovered Seoul, it's time to go further afield—and it's super easy with a high-speed rail network. Visit the second city, Busan, with its hot springs and delicious seafood. Explore the traditional homes of Andong Folk Village, or the fascinating history of Gyeongju. Or, head to the birthplace of bibimbap in Jeonju.

The great outdoors
Those looking for an active holiday can go hiking in the beautiful mountainous region of Gangwon-do, or ski in Pyeongchang, which hosted the 2018 Winter Olympics. Jeju Island is another favourite for adventure lovers—climb a dormant volcano or the Halla mountain, or walk one of the Olle hiking trails.
