Itinerary highlights

  • Porto... after landing, you'll transfer to the ship which will be moored in Porto overnight. Settle into your cabin and meet your fellow passengers.
  • Lamego... arrive early afternoon and take a coach to the medieval village of Lamego for your included tour. See the imposing Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios set atop a terraced ornate staircase, then enjoy some free time to explore before returning to Régua for a folk music show onboard the ship. 
  • Pinhão... stop here for a visit to a winery in Favaios followed by dinner in a nearby "quinta". 
  • Vega de Térron, Spain... take a tour to Castelo Rodrigo, a hilltop medieval village lined with boutiques and charming cafés. Visit the Church of Our Lady of Rocamadour, once a stop off point for pilgrimages.
  • Salamanca, Spain... while still moored in Vega de Térron, visit the UNESCO-listed city of Salamanca. You'll be guided to the Plaza Mayor and savour a traditonal flamenco show in a local restaurant.
  • Régua... visit the baroque Mateus Palace and its impressive art collection and beautifully manicured formal gardens on your included tour. 
  • Porto... return to Portugal's second-largest city and spend your last day visiting a local port wine cellar. Learn about how they produce this famous tipple, and finish by sampling some glasses yourself.

About the ship
The Spirit of the Douro is an intimate 5-star river ship with 63 cabins. All cabins are outward-facing with river views, and have a television, hairdryer, and tea and coffee-making facilities.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and 4-course dinners with panoramic windows so that you can dine and watch the scenery drift by. On the upper deck is a lounge bar, and drinks are included. 

Also onboard is a fitness room, a spa, and a large sun deck with lounge chairs and a splash pool. 

Transfers & baggage
Door-to-door UK transfers, transfers in-destination, and a checked-baggage allowance of up to 23kg per person, return, are included.
