Itinerary highlights
You'll board the ship in Budapest. You'll stay in port for the whole of the following day. Excursions include:

  • Budapest... explore the enchanting Castle District, including the fairytale Fisherman's Bastion. Then, explore the treasures of the Pest side of the city on a guided tour. 
  • Bratislava... a local guide will show you around the Slovak capital’s winding cobbled streets. You could also choose a specialised Tastes of Slovakia food tour.
  • Vienna... discover the grand City of Waltzes. You can visit the Opera House and former Imperial Palace of the Habsburgs. You could also opt for a bike tour to explore in traditional style.
  • Dürnstein and Grein... embark on a visit to Melk Abbey, which overlooks the Wachau Valley. Alternatively, opt for a foodie walking tour led by a local vintner. Finally, sail through the Strudengau Valley for an exclusive visit to Greinburg Castle.
  • Linz... several excursion options begin here. You could opt for a full-day trip to Salzburg, setting of the Sound of Music. Český Krumlov, a picturesque Medieval village in Czechia, is a second excursion option. Afterwards, there's a little time to explore Linz on foot or by bike.
  • Passau... admire the Gothic and Italian Baroque architecture on a city walking tour. Alternatively, embark on a guided hike to the Veste Oberhaus fortress. You could also join a guided bike tour along the River Inn.

You'll say farewell to the ship in Vilshofen and transfer to Munich to fly home.

Ship details
AmaSonata is a small luxury ship with 81 staterooms. Its small size means it never feels crowded, and there are plenty of cosy nooks. A real highlight is the heated swimming pool on the top deck. You can take in panoramic riverbank views with a drink from the swim-up bar. 

You can expect high-end, multi-course cuisine in the onboard restaurants. A selection of wine and beer is included with lunch and dinner. The ship is alive with music in the evenings. The eclectic schedule includes everything from modern piano tunes to traditional Bavarian music.
