Itinerary highlights
Spend two nights in South Korea's modern capital city, Seoul. The hotel is 10 minutes' walk from Gwangjang Market, which hosts an exciting night market. Sample authentic South Korean cuisine, including bibimbap (Korean rice bowls) and bulgogi (barbecue beef). You can reach the city's five famous palaces within 15–30 minutes by bus from the hotel.
It's then time to embark Norwegian Spirit. From Incheon, you'll sail to:
- Jeju... consider taking an underground stroll through the world's longest lava-tube cave at Manjanggul.
- Sasebo... once a quiet fishing village, this is now a major port town. Visit the Zoological and Tropical Botanical Garden, or tour the morning market.
- Kanman Strait... this expansive channel connects the islands of Honshu and Kyushu. Take in stunning scenery, and be sure to visit Kokura Castle in Kitakyushu.
- Beppu... is famous for its hot springs. Explore the Japanese garden in Beppu Park and pick up pastries from Tomonaga Panya bakery.
- Hiroshima... will always evoke images of the atomic bomb, but nowadays you'll find a thriving city. Visit the contemplative memorials to the past, or hop on a ferry to Miyajima Island.
- Kochi... is a great port for exploring the more traditional side of Japan. You could visit Kochi Castle, which dates back to the 1600s, or the papermaking museum.
- Osaka... is the gateway to Kyoto, Japan's former capital. There are over 1600 Buddhist temples and more than 400 Shintō shrines here. Peer into Japan's history and traditions by visiting some of them.
- Nagoya... is Japan's fourth largest city. Take photos of the Nagoya TV Tower, the city's iconic symbol, and visit Oasis 21. This multi-level park has a futuristic water theme.
- Shimizu... admire clear views of Mount Fuji here. The mountain is around 90 minutes from the port.
- Tokyo... disembark the ship and continue home.
