Itinerary
Fly to the Italian capital, Rome, for two nights at a deluxe hotel in centre. The Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, and the Pantheon are 20–25 minutes' walk away.
Embark Sun Princess at Civitavecchia port on day three. Your week-long voyage calls at:
- Naples… is a 40-minute train ride from the UNESCO-protected ruins of Pompeii. You could join excursions to the Amalfi Coast, or the glamorous island of Capri (tours during the cruise cost extra).
- Souda… this port is just a few miles away from Chania in Crete. While away in the postcard-perfect old town. Alternatively, opt for a tour to mountain villages, or the Knossos Palace archaeological site.
- Kuşadası… this Turkish city is an about 30-minute drive from Ephesus. According to Lonely Planet, it is "Europe's most complete classical metropolis".
- Mykonos… is known for its whitewashed maze of alleys framed by pink bougainvillea. Browse upscale boutiques or hop on a boat to nearby Delos, home to Hellenic ruins.
Your cruise concludes in Athens. Spend the last night of your holiday walking distance from the Acropolis.
