Itinerary

  • Brest, France... is known for its rich maritime history—learn all about it at the National Navy Museum in the Medieval Chateau de Brest, or pay a visit to the National Botanical Conservatory, or the Océanopolis aquarium.
  • Getxo, Spain (for Bilbao)... this is the starting place for optional excursions to Bilbao. The city is best known for the Guggenheim Museum, where you can check out some modern art, or wander down the city's Siete Calles (Seven Streets), which The Independent calls "ideal idling territory".
  • Leixoes, Portugal (for Porto)... this seaport is less than 30 minutes' drive from Portugal's "northern jewel" (The Guardian), Porto, where you can wander cobbled streets lined with colourful buildings, and hip new bars on the banks of the Douro River. Soak up the city's fascinating museums, beautiful architecture, and delicious local port wine.
  • Vigo, Spain... sample delicious seafood paella, visit the Art Museum, or head to the 17th-century hilltop Castro Fortress for awe-inspiring views over the coastline.
  • Le Verdon, France (for Bordeaux)... you'll drop anchor at Le Verdon along the Garonne estuary to visit one of the finest wine-producing regions in the world. Bordeaux is famed for its elegant 18th-century architecture, and a thriving foodie scene, while the rolling countryside is home to stately castles, where you can tour the vineyards and sample local produce.
  • Cork, Ireland...  Ireland's second city, where you'll find traditional pubs filled with live music, plus "the best foodie scene in the country" according to Lonely Planet

Ship details
Ambition is the second ship acquired by Ambassador, and it was fully refurbished for its launch in May, 2023. It's aimed at the over-50s, and World of Cruising praises it as "a masterpiece of style and demographic appreciation".

Whichever ship you sail aboard, by day you can join games and trivia, relax in the ship's games room or crafters' studio, or cosy up with a book in any of the 11 bars and lounges. You could also visit the spa, as entry to spa facilities is included in the cruise fare (supplements apply for treatments). At night, you can watch big production shows in the main theatre and enjoy live music around the ship.

Meals are all included—treat yourself to a full English, grab a casual lunch, or sit down to a hearty meal after a long day exploring. Classic British cruising traditions will take centre stage, like a baked Alaska parade complete with twirling napkins and a 5-course gala dinner with the captain.
