Itinerary highlights
The cruise departs from and returns to Southampton, and calls at:
- Haugesund… this lively town with a Viking heritage, a vibrant waterfront, and a good selection of shops is the departure point to charming villages and old lighthouses along the scenic coastline, and the 32-kilometre long Åkrafjord flanked by steep mountains, and a cascading waterfall.
- Åndalsnes… surrounded by towering peaks at the mouth of the Rauma river, this picturesque town is the gateway to treks on the scenic Trolls' Path and to Stigfoss waterfall, to idyllic farms, or to islands along the dramatic Atlantic Ocean Road.
- Trondheim… the original capital is one of the country's most photogenic cities with fishing boats bobbing in the quaint harbour surrounded by colourful wooden houses and delightful cafés, and it is also home to Europe's northernmost cathedral.
- Longyearbyen... is ''like a portal to a magical sub-polar world'' says Lonely Planet. Tucked between steep mountains and icy glaciers, this is the northernmost town on the planet, where reindeers wander the streets and there's more snowmobiles than people.
- Honningsvåg… cross the Arctic Circle and drop anchor at this gateway to the North Cape, where otherworldly cliffs plunging in the ocean are home to puffin colonies. Back in town, restaurants run by Sami residents offer the freshest seafood.
- Tromsø… in summer, the "nightless skies and coastal scenery [around town] are like nowhere else on Earth", says The Daily Telegraph. Take a stroll along charming streets heaving with shops and bars, go on a high-speed RIB boat trip to nearby islands, or admire the stunning landscape from above during a helicopter tour.
In between ports, you'll spend four full days at sea, when you can take advantage of your ship's amenities and facilities.
