Itinerary
This voyage departs from and returns to Southampton, calling at:
- Hamburg, Germany… with its hip bars, shops, and restaurants, Lonely Planet calls it "one of the coolest cities on Earth". From late November, fairy lights illuminate the streets as numerous Christmas markets spring up over the city. Explore the adults-only market in St Pauli or head to the Jungfernstieg Weißer Zauber market, which has cosy white tents selling mulled wine and cinnamon rolls against the backdrop of the Alster lake.
- Rotterdam, Netherlands… Europe's largest port is home to world-class architecture, including the De Rotterdam tower and the Erasmus Bridge. Discover the city's buzzing bars and cafés, and take a stroll through the lively Markthal—an indoor market hall with gourmet international food stalls—which Fodor's calls "the talk of the town".
- Zeebrugge, Belgium… you'll be a 25-minute drive from the picture-perfect old town of Bruges. From 24 November to 7 January, the Winter Glow festival transforms the city into a winter wonderland. Atmospheric light installations create a festive glow around every corner, and you'll find an ice-skating ring, cosy winter bars, two Christmas markets, and hundreds of twinkling Christmas trees.
- Le Havre, France... the final port of call is Le Havre in Normandy. The city's captivating Modernist architecture has earned it UNESCO World Heritage Site status, and the Musée Malraux is home to famous impressionist paintings, including several pieces by Monet, who spent his childhood in the city.
