Deal looked good but at today's prices was little reduction. Booking took four goes because of their wedding commitments but they were helpful and nice. No room key - taken by the happy
bride the day before. Had to ask for another room since not happy to find someone every time to unlock. As other reviews have said, reception often barr and you have to find someone from the kitchen for any help. Given another spacious room, pity about the constant dead and living flies emanating from the bathroom. Afternoon tea, dinner great on day 1, lovely staff and breakfast the next day.
Lovely location and would go again if we felt staff issues could be sorted. See day 2 below!

Day 2: It could do just so much better if there was any evidence of management directing, organising and training staff. Some staff excellent but, like another TripAdvisor review said, it depends on the day. Had really good first day and breakfast the next. Dinner on second day was pared down on the basics such as gravy slammed on the plate, not separate and a staggeringly rude and spiteful waiter whose vendetta against some guests which made it hard to enjoy anything. Tried to take payment three times for wine, shouting out on leaving the room that it needed paying for even though done so before end of main course. Breakfast grim compared to day 1 - not offered toast, no menu, no greeting and no vegetarian option - fruit etc gone. Was told "we have the apple and the banana but not doing any fruit today" What! Such a pity since day one faultless.
Experience on day 2 - owners and absentee management - get a grip. Decide if you do want to do hotel as well as wedding venue and pay it some attention. Those staying could ultimately be wedding customers in the future. In any case, the place used to be brilliant for all and all paying guests should be treated well by all staff.
