Hotel was beautiful and accomodation could not fault. Ideally situated just outside of Cardiff - beautiful surroundings. Only issue is was the breakfast, not that it was bad but just some learning tweaks needed, coffee was cold and the toasters did not work properly.

Lovely building and helpful friendly staff. Needs a bit of updating , but we would go back. Very nice evening meal.

We stayed in the cottages. Very noisy very early one morning with deliveries right past our door. Breakfast not organised very well , everyone waiting for food. Was very nice when it came.
They should get rid of the pictures in the dining room. Miserable and depressing.

Excellent hotel with great grounds. Decor looked a bit tired but room was good and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast could have been better as the plates in the plate warmer were cold and the toasters were painfully slow. Some of the cooked offerings could have been hotter. Evening meal was excellent.

Our stay at Miskin Manor Hotel had its ups and downs. The reception staff were friendly and efficient, and the room itself was fabulous and impeccably clean, with the exception of a missing toilet brush, which forced us into some awkward contortions to maintain cleanliness.
Unfortunately, the restaurant and food were disappointing. Two elements from the menu were unavailable, and we weren’t informed beforehand. While the junior staff were polite and cheerful, their service wasn’t flawless—they forgot to take our drink orders. The prawn cocktail was underwhelming, looking rather cheap and lacking sauce, which we had to request. The bread served with it was also not buttered.
The meatball pasta dish left much to be desired. The linguine was slightly overcooked, and the tomato sauce felt disconnected from the rest of the dish, as if it had been added as an afterthought. Oregano was not a suitable choice here, and the meatballs should have been cooked in the sauce to allow for maximum flavor.
Lastly, while we admire the artistic talent of the owner, we found the overwhelming display of framed paintings depicting human faces a bit unsettling. It was unnerving to be surrounded by so many additional eyes in the space. While the paintings were well-done and detailed, there were simply too many in one room. For such an iconic hotel, we also expected more character in the restaurant—paper towels and low-quality food didn’t quite fit the setting.

No hot water in the room. Food was the same limited choice every day. Yohurt at breakfast on the first day ran out early. No more in the kitchen. Despite ordering this was not delivered for breakfast the next day either. Hotel in receivership so staff were limited in what help they could give.

A lovely venue but in need of some TLC. Could be amazing with some serious financial input, hope someone comes along who will do that. In the meantime the Travelzoo deal is an absolute steal.

Relaxing stay. Food is good including breakfast and dinner. P.S. It will be good to have proper coffee like latte for breakfast.

Too many portrait paintings from the owner as he loves painting them. However they are better to locate in library rather than dinner room, in our humble opinion.

The hotel is in administration and is very poorly decorated and carpetted. The main stair carpet is threadbare in places and the edges worn so that fibres are loose and could be a trip hazard. The inside has not beed decorated for a while and shows its age. Certain staff were rude, Main dinner was hopeless Roast Chicken with Chasseur sauce was tough and chewy, the Chasseur sauce was basically tomato sauce with a little flour which was not cooked through. Potatoes were not fully cooked and the vegetables were nicely adentee bit were luke warm The sweet bread and butter pudding was that bland cheap end commercial stuff, no flavour and very few sultanas. The custard was very, very good. Basicall this hotel needs recuing and a lot of money spending to restore it to its pre vious grandeur.

Comfortable, resplendent and iconic, Miskin Manor hotel is making an impressive return as a hotel after a closure and change of ownership. Friendly, efficient staff made us feel welcome and valued. The surroundings and grounds are delightful and to be enjoyed. The hotel interior is somewhat jaded but quaint and functional. The meals are well prepared and enjoyable.
On this occasion, the room provided was cosy but quite small which detracted from our experience. Nonetheless, we will return for a future visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night break at Miskin Manor. The staff and food made up for any of the negative aspects of our room. The lighting was insufficient - 3 table lamps but they kindly put a 4th one in for us after our request. No ceiling lights for general illumination. We also couldn't get beyond a very cool shower. However, we put all this down to the age and character of the property and it didn't really detract from the enjoyment we experienced. The room itself was very large (just ironic that we paid a supplement for this room as it had the requested separate shower which my husband still couldn't use as it was so cold) and well furnished.

Lovely hotel with old world charm, we stayed in a four poster room, food was average but expected for price paid, staff seem despondent because hotel i in administration and not sure of their future. A big positive was not feeling we were staying at a kennels as wasn’t surrounded by dogs, not sure why any hotel or eating establishments allow dogs on premises. Would definitely return assuming hotel is still open
