Loved the hotel and the Travelzoo perks! Complimentary bottle of wine & truffles in addition to the included breakfast buffet, the spacious room made it even more special. The on site restaurant, The Swamp Fox, was very good as well. We were there during restaurant week and got a great deal on a 3 course dinner. We were within walking distance of the City Market as well as shops and restaurants. Would highly recommend the Francis Marion!

The Francis Marion is a wonderful hotel. The location is great. The staff at every encounter was excellent. The folks in the dinning room were amazing and the food was beyond excellent. I will recommend this hotel to all friends who plan to visit Charleston.

The Francis Marion will always be my choice when I visit Charleston.

I have stayed here before, love the historic charm, loved the Travelzoo deal, everyone was so nice, from our Valet, to check in to Demetrius serving champagne to our waitress at breakfast

They had an incident the day before that caused no hot water for showers when I mentioned (only because I thought there was a trick to getting it to work, they explained and compt my valet charges, every turn they were gracious and accomadating

Wonderful stay for 2 nights. Beautiful hotel on Marion Square close to King St and College of Charleston with lots of shopping and dining options. Loved the cookies and champagne/cheese and crackers provided in the evenings. The breakfast buffets that were included with the deal were superb. High quality food and service.

Silvie would served breakfast provided superior service! So friendly, helpful and professional! And the food was delicious too.

Front desk staff personnel were perfect.

We were very happy with our stay at the Fancis Marion. The reception desk staff were wonderful. The servers in the Swamp Fox restaurant (Dorothy and Christina were terrific, as was each morning's breakfast). The only negative was our room location, which was directly above a machine area (heating and cooling) and those motors were running 24/7.

We will definitely be back!

I know the hotel is historic, but the rooms were just old and outdated.

Wonderful experience. As you enter the lobby you are awash with the style and grace of a hotel that was built in 1924! Its been restored to like new condition. The piano player in the lobby is also a reminder that the early1920's were certainly the best of times in america!

We used travel zoo to book a room for 2 nights. It was wonderful. The hotel is beautiful and in a great location to walk everywhere. We loved the breakfast that came with the room and also bottle of wine and chocolates. What a great deal! The room was spacious and bed was super comfortable. Karin at the concierge was extremely helpful. We would go back again!

Hotel is older and could certainly use a fresh coat of paint. Looking past that, great lobby ambiance for Charleston. Room was great size but had 2 double beds (not queens). Bathroom is tiny - especially for a family traveling. Has all the amenities and more of a 5-star hotel. Onsite concierge is awesome plus complimentary coffee in the morning, cookies in the afternoon and champagne at happy hour! Not to mention Starbucks is in the hotel for extra convenience!

The hotel is in a great location. The beds were comfortable and the AC was nice and cold on a very hot day. The front desk staff didn't seem to know what they were doing. We weren't given our breakfast vouchers or bottle of wine and truffles after asking multiple times and being told it would be sent to the room. We finally after 3x going to front desk got breakfast vouchers and they ended up giving us a credit for the bottle of wine and truffles, which we were fine with, but shouldn't have had to track them down for the amenities

My sisters and I went to Charleston for a visit. The hotel was lovely, staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was wonderful! Karin, the concierge was very friendly and helpful, as well as Silvia in the restaurant. We used the valet parking and that was so convenient. It was a great visit!

Second time going to FM thru Travel Zoo. Will be going back using Travel Zoo. Great experience and top notch accommodations with Francis Marion hotel.

There needs to be an allowance towards the parking fee.

The staff is friendly. The room was very nice but the bathroom was very small. I wish that there was more affordable parking options. Parking was almost 1/5 of our total bill. This is a consideration for future visits. The breakfast buffet was quite extensive but the food was barely warm. Breakfast ordered off menu was hot and delicious.

Sylvia in the Swamp Fox restaurant was exceptional. She anticipated our every need. A true ray of sunshine.

The rooms and the hotel were quite nice. But the bathroom ruined the entire stay. It was so tiny and unusable that I had to stand in the hall area to dry off after a shower!! You couldn't sit on the toilet while the paper was on it's normal place. There was plenty of room that the bathroom could have been made better, but for whatever reason they left it the size of a closet. For that reason, I would never stay again.

A wonderful old hotel in the heart of Charleston, walkable to everything with great restaurants and shopping close by. Staff in Swamp Fox restaurant go above and beyond. True southern hospitality!

We booked this trip to celebrate my wife's birthday. Charleston is one of her favorite places to visit because of the history and the food. We were able to experience both by booking the Francis Marion. It is by far our favorite hotel in Charleston and we have stayed in quite a few.

The hotel staff was exceptional for their service. Our room was all we expected and we had a great view of the city. The Swamp Fox Restaurant in the Francis Marion provided fantastic food and the included breakfast each day as part of the Travelzoo package was really a great benefit. Our server each morning was a French-Canadian waitress named Sylvie. We had her the last time we came and she remembered our names. Personal service like this is rare but always adds to the enjoyment of the experience.

The staff at service is above the unusual. They are friendly, go out of their way to assist,and seem sincere on wanting their guests to have a great experience at the hotel. I highly recommend,

The FM.hoyel.is in a terrific location I. The center of historic Charleston. This is the second time I have brought bicycles in the month of January. Its a great time to go before lots of traffic descend on the city making biking difficult. Also January is the month the Visitors Center sells discounted tickets to see about a dozen old homes and museums for just $35. When each museum is typically $15-$20 this is fantastic savings. Parking is expensive in Charleston so using bikes is also a cost savings. We parked our car the day we arrived and didn't move it until we exited the city three days later.

Great location. Nice old hotel. Breakfast was a highlight. Ask to sit in Sylbie's section. She will light up your day with her French cheerfulness!
