"The inn is architecturally very cool and beautifully situated. The plantation and gardens were well restored and well kept. The tour guides we used were very professional and knowledgeable (Slave Life and the Flanker House tour)."

The Inn is, sadly, in need of some fairly major renovation. The bathrooms don't measure up to a Hilton Garden Inn or a Marriott Courtyard, for instance. The original-looking wood floors only get swept during housekeeping and they felt a bit dirty. The design of the rooms makes it a challenge to keep clean e.g., floor to ceiling shutters on the massive windows, sliding bathroom door which disappears into a hidden space, and old ceramic tiles (with black grout!) in the bathroom. The huge soaking tub doesn't look inviting to use. In summary, the units have great potential but are in need of a major cash infusion. Also, access to the pool and the kayak center looked more rustic and difficult to access than one would expect.

Staff is wonderful. So helpful and friendly. The Grounds/Gardens are amazing! Again, staff at The Plantation Gardens were just wonderful.
Other Comments
The rooms at the Inn are very dated and unclean. Rooms could use a good deep cleaning-grim build-up everywhere, especially bathrooms. Bed linens appear clean but old and dingy. Shower in room did not work and bathtub dirty. At The Middleton Inn’s price point one would expect better. The restaurant is lovely but service very slow. Five tables occupied and waiting 30 minutes for a salad which included possibly frozen/microwaved chicken at $19. price point. Perfectly fine with paying $19.00 for a salad but not the one we received.

The staff was wonderful and the Ashley River was cool. This just doesn't work for me. I would never bash the place. The people were very kind and this is a 501(c) 3 organization. I work in a church and am the Artistic Director of a county chorus. I like non-profits. As I said, I'm just a city boy. I like New York, Broadway, and glitz!

Let me be clear that we are not angry. This just wasn't what I expected. This is more like a camp setting. We enjoyed the tour of the plantation. I'm just a city boy!

Room was large and interestingly arranged, but separated from lobby. Luggage had to be carried across gravel parking lot. No elevator. Okay for quiet get away

Middleton Place and the Gardens are a must-see for everyone! The location is ideal. The scenery and the ambience are top-notch, and while the Rooms are a bit dated, the architecture and the beauty of the environment are all that you see! I would highly recommend this to anyone seeking a lovely, karmic experience.
