None, it was disappointing in all levels.

The room was nowhere near luxury. The room photos on their website and pretty much anywhere on the internet has been photoshopped to remove all wear and tear. The “luxurious robe” was a thin cotton robe with bleach stains and the pillows inside the pillowcases have stains on them as well. Also, the stocked minibar and complimentary snacks were non existent. Even after requesting it for a room of two guests staying 4 nights, we got 1 water, 1 bag of chips and 1 soda. To summarize, I feel like we got CATFISH with this hotel. Instead of it being sophisticated, luxurious and updated, it’s a worn out, no accommodations old downtown San Diego hotel that is filled with drunk kids from the area. We stayed on the roof top bar floor and had to endure drunken outbursts all night long! Worst hotel with travelzoo!!!!

I was in San Diego to watch baseball games at Petco Park. Hotel Solamar is in a perfect location for the baseball games and for having fun in the Gaslamp District. The rooms are clean and quite nice. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone interested in staying in the Gaslamp District in San Diego.

Location was outstanding for Gaslamp district. Room was just ok. Bed was not very comfortable. Trash bags were not in trash cans. I love dogs, but dog barking in a room near us at night kept us up. Although I confirmed during check in the discounted Travelzoo price for overnight parking, was charged the full price on my check out invoice.

staff helpful but gave us a room one top of the pool (so no privacy- can see right in the room + dirty windows) but immediately moved us when requested (unfortunately to a room facing a wall- but we didn't want to ask to move again)

Valet quick and helpful. Elevators slow (with 2 person limit for covid) and drunk people going to/from pool. Sound carries. Location is great.

location, location, location. Staff were nice to us, apologetic about the circumstances. I felt sorry for them.

We discussed this at checkout, but it bears repeating. Our first and second visits to Solamar was as a Kimpton property. We enjoyed it enough to come back for a third. Unfortunately, due to COVID but also management lapses, we won't return. 1. We were not informed at any stage of the booking or check-in process that housekeeping was not available. so no towels or other bathroom supplies were replaced without a special request. WHAT? 2. The furniture, in particular the mirrored fridge/television amoire, was in bad repair. Two of the doors' hinges did not work and it took special care to close them without further damaging the hinges. 3. We had to ASK for toilet paper. WHAT? 4. The leatherette covering on the ice bucket was coming unglued. I finally removed it entirely so that it was easier to use. A staff member intercepted me on an ice run and offered to do it for me. (nice). But the bucket came back, still, without a covering and sticky glue residue on the outside where one would carry it. 5. Our "skyline view room" had a good vista of Bub's beerhall (not the skyline) through extremely dirty windows. The bathroom mirror frame enamel was cracking in a few places; another sign of a degrading hotel. 6. The tub/shower drained very slowly, leaving feet to soak in dirty soapy water. Should I go on?

We arrived early to the hotel due to travel arrangements (11:00 AM). We were told we would be contacted as soon as our room was ready but this was not done. We just arrived back to the hotel and check-in at the stated 4:00 check-in time. That was the only negative. Our room had a large outdoor patio that was fantastic! I was able to soak up some sun every morning and we also enjoyed this area each evening. The bathroom was large and the soaking tub was luxurious.
