  • The Star Tribune named Gunflint the state's best wilderness resort in 2015; the property is just an hour north of the Star Tribune's 2016 best small town for dining, Grand Marais
  • Includes outdoor activities like canoeing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing; guests can also arrange for snowmobile rentals or dogsled rides
  • "It’s easy to romanticize this remote getaway, which is a popular year-round destination for vacations, weddings, and honeymoons" (Mpls. St. Paul Magazine)

Occupancy Rules: No more than two adults can stay in a one-bedroom Classic Cabin; up to two children 4 years of age and younger are free. Canoer Cabin pricing is based on up to five guests. All cabins are pet-friendly with a $25 per night fee for all pets. Review hotel’s pet policy on its website or call to inquire.

Additional Hotel Specific Charges: Sales tax and an 8% service charge are not included and will be paid directly to the hotel. This fee covers guest services, amenities and guided naturalist activities. Parking is complimentary.

The peacefulness and beauty of the area! They also gave us everything we needed for our Boundary Waters canoeing excursion.
Other Comments
We didn't spend much time at the lodge itself, since we were doing the canoe trip, but it seemed like they could use a game room for the rainy days/evenings with things like fooseball, pool table, board games, etc.

The staff was excellent and we enjoyed our time. We stayed in a "rustic" cabin which was rather rustic. I'm sure the other cabins would have been nicer. The restaurant was mediocre. Everyone kept saying there were free cookies, coffee/tea/hot chocolate, but every time we checked (about 2x/day) the cookies bin was empty.
