I paid extra for a child in the room and requested 2 beds, upon arrival , they gave us 1 king bed for 2 adults and one child. We had to wait for another room even though there were only 3 people at the check in, it took the staff about 2 hours to check us in . The staff at the front desk is either poorly trained or just does not care. The manager at the front desk would not even allow me to finish my sentence, she kept interrupting me all the time. The staff at the restaurant was EXCELLENT, hard working and kind.

Love the resort, food was great good music. Staff was great too. Only disappointment I was tested positive from Covid after I got there and the insurance st. Maarten made us take out before we could travel there did not offer me any help I had to pay for extra time there including multiple testing to get a negative result to get back home

Overall, a good experience. It was our first time in St. Maarten and it was nice to see. The resort did seem far away from most things like restaurants and shopping, but there were a few shops and decent restaurants within walking distance. The food at the resort could have been better, but for all you can eat, it was fine. The highlight for us was the swim up bar along with the great weather.

Overall, our experience at Sonesta Maho Beach was great. Our room was nice, the resort property and access to Maho beach was great, as was the staff. The food was pretty good but it was somewhat hit or miss. Some great meals, some not so much.
Our room was situated near a night club that was off property and it was incredibly loud a couple of nights. Fortunately we had ear plugs with but that was a definite negative about our overall experience. If you're able to when booking, get an oceanside room to avoid a similar situation.

My husband and I traveled with our 20 year old daughter and 5 of her friends on spring break. The Travelzoo price was unbelievable especially for girls this age most of which paid for themselves.

It was our first time to the island. The Sonesta was a great experience for this. We will definitely be back. I would stay next door at the Sonesta Ocean Point as it is an adults only resort. Overall experience was an excellent value for the price paid.

This is the review I wrote for Google maps. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sonesta Maho Beach. The room was neat, clean as you can see we had a nice view of the resort and water. We stayed in a signature island view king. We saw some of the negative reviews after we booked the vacation and were reluctant as we had never stayed at a Caribbean resort before. Unlike some others we will be back!
Getting there from the airport is $10. Cabs are readily available. We didn't wait on arrival or departure. Very easy.
The food was very good. The Italian restaurant was the best in quality and service. Jing's had great Asian food though portion size was small. No worries you can always find something else to eat at the Sonesta, did someone say all inclusive? The Lava rock was a nice touch as well. The regular dining area is a buffet style with many options. Service could be lacking, not always, just like everywhere yougo. Dorian works in the morning, what a nice lady!
Location if you like watching planes landing and taking off, this is the place. Don't worry about noise. Check out YouTube videos of SXM the Sonesta is on that beach. How cool is that?
We never wanted for anything to drink ever! Water, soda, wine or beer. Not all top shelf brands but good selection and who doesn't like a swim or walk up pool bar?
We arranged a tour of the island in the lobby, Nexus tours, I think it's called Sweet St Maarten. Our tour guide David was excellent! Very professional, polite and accommodating. I'm sure other excursions are of equal quality. We had thought about renting a car, if you are a stranger to the island this a better option.
The other pictures are from around the pool the ocean side lounge area and Maho Beach looking at the resort. The man playing guitar is Jojo we were lucky to hear Jojo twice, a different act canceled on the Wednesday we were there.
For those of you that will need an antigen or PCR test to return home. There's a testing facility across the street. Not open on Sunday so plan accordingly. When you check in they provide the information. If you're going back to the US the form we received was outdated but they have them at the airport when you check in.

The staff was incredibly kind and thoughtful throughout our stay. The rooms were very clean after every housekeeping visit. It took us several hours to get checked into our room (1 of those hours after the 4pm check in time) which was not ideal. But the facilities and location were all amazing.

The mini fridge had a bottle of water that when opened smelled strongly of alcohol of some kind. This bottle was submitted to guest services but apparently they didn’t consider it a big deal and we never heard another word about it. I wouldn’t feel right recommending Sonesta Maho because what if someone took a drink and got sick or worse? Nor can I give staff high marks although everything else was exceptional. In addition the adjacent discos were so loud in room as to make impossible to sleep until after they closed at 3am…Ridiculous!

Checkin was the most upsetting. I called and confirm availability on Tuesday 8/17 and told them I had my husband and two boys. The two representatives weren’t sure how to “use” the vouchers and kept putting me on hold. I was on hold with the first rep so long I had to hang up and call back. Then when the second rep came back he said he spoke with the manager and knew what to do, he took the voucher #s. When I received my reservation, it said for 1 person. I called back but didn’t reach anyone so I figured it would be fine and I would just have to pay for my kids. I get to the Hotel and the lady is like she has no idea about Travelzoo vouchers , she just sees a room for me and I have to pay for my family or they can’t go in the room and I need to call Travelzoo. I was shaking mad. I explained to her I spoke with their booking people, doesn’t she see the voucher #, she said she does but can’t explain why. I left the counter to call Travelzoo., then she comes over to say she “know now” I only have to pay for the kids. Then she says it’s $27.50 per child per night and I’m shocked because your deal said $22.50 and the person on the phone said $22.50 also. It’s our anniversary so I let it go. The next day I called the reservation # to confirm he said it was $22.50 and checked with them about the increase. He told me extra $5 was for taxes and fees. They just changed me $172 in taxes and fees now they’re telling me the kids need to pay taxes and fees individually. Ok. Then the rep said there’s a $25 a day resort fee and for 5 days that should be $125 and the extra money from the $172 is for my husband because the only had me as 1 guest. Like what, the Travelzoo voucher is for 2 people he’s like it for up to two people. I said to him I told the rep who I was coming with to check availability before I bought the Travelzoo voucher, he confirmed there was a room that would fit the 4 of us. Why would he only put for 1 person. The rep said its something wrong on Travelzoo’s end and he barely knows how to book with the voucher and I should ask the front desk to give me something for the mistake. If I had to guess I’d bet they wouldn’t know what he was talking about so I’ll just leave it alone. I just think all the extra fees and headaches isn’t worth this place.

The staff was so so. No one seemed fully informed. It always seemed to require more than one person to answer a question. They did not tell me the total amount of resort credit that I had. When I went to check out I still had $400 available, that I would have liked to use. Instead, I left it as a tip for the girl checking me out. She did not say thanks. Restaurant staff seemed over worked, slow and generally not accommodating. Some of the bar tenders would not make "labor intensive" drinks (a mojito). And the hotel clientele seemed trashy. We lived the location and found the views beautiful! Everything was kept very clean and our room was good.
