Why We Love This Hotel

  • This boutique apartment hotel is on Cornwall's Roseland Peninsula and has "splendid" (The Daily Telegraphsea views
  • Porthcurnick Beach, the South West Coast Path and Portscatho are less than 15 minutes' walk away
  • Slate Rooms have a kitchenette, while Studio Apartments have a living/dining room, a kitchenette, and a patio and garden area with sea views
  • There is a restaurant, a lounge with a wood-burning stove and a heated indoor pool

Offering "coastal-chic" décor and "splendid sea vistas" (The Daily Telegraph), The Rosevine is a Georgian contry house hotel on the Roseland Heritage Coast, part of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Overlooking Gerrans Bay, with "magnificent" (The Daily Telegraph) beaches nearby, the hotel is close to plenty of coastal walks, including the National Trust-owned Porthcurnick Beach and the South West Coast Path (both less than five minutes' walk away). The coastal village of Portscatho, where you'll find quaint cottages, narrow roads and bobbing fishing boats, is a 15-minute walk from the hotel. St Mawes is 15 minutes' drive away -- from there, you can catch a ferry to Falmouth.

The Daily Telegraph praises this boutique apartment hotel's "understated coastal aesthetic" -- it has upcycled, locally sourced furniture, large bay windows and a wood-burning stove in the lounge. There is also a restaurant, a heated indoor pool, an outdoor ping-pong table and shelves of books, games and DVDs, as well as a subtropical garden

Slate Rooms are mostly in the Slate House Annex, but some are in the main house. Studio Apartments are in the main house, have sea view rooms and are larger than Slate Rooms. Both have a kitchenette.

One of our friends broke her arm while on a coastal walk, and returned to the hotel for first aid. The concern and efficiency of the staff was first class.

The view from the room, the location of the hotel and the breakfast was good.
Other Comments
The evening meal was poor, the lack of hot water for a bath or a shower and the bad smell in the bathroom.

It was a birthday present to our daughter as Portscatho is one of our favourite places (we only live 30mins away) )she said it was all fantastic, the staff were lovely and really looked after them, the food was delicious and there had vegetarian options. Her only complaint was the noisy man on his phone at breakfast, she suggested maybe banning phones from the dining room.

A really friendly cosy hotel with a small very attentive staff team. But, and it's a big but, the highlight for us was the superb food. The breakfasts were freshly cooked and the dinners......amazing! I have never had such a wonderful meal of lamb, the equivalent of a well cooked beef fillet. Loved this hotel and will definitely return.

The tv in the bedroom was very small but that in no way diminished our enjoyment.

Amazing location, super staff, great food. Only slight complaint would be the sound proofing of our room. We had a snorer next door that we could hear and the footsteps upstairs seemed very loud also. But this wouldn’t be enough to stop us coming back. Loved our stay!
