"What a wonderful relaxing couple of days in this old manor. Our host was incredibly accommodating, the manor is fascinating in its history. A 1/2 hour climb to the waterfall is well worth the time and effort. Only downside was sketchy (at best) wifi. We will be back! One suggestion - brown towels do not belong with the rest of the impeccable linens."
Set on a six-acre estate along Kootenay Lake, the manor was built in 1910 as a retirement home for Royal Navy officer James Matthew Harrison and his wife, Lady Lucy Caroline Wedgwood, the niece of Charles Darwin
Guests get afternoon treats like scones with clotted cream or fresh baked cookies and evening access to the pantry
Suites are designed with luxury in mind, uniquely decorated to reflect the manor's historic charm — expect a lounge or living area, a private bath, an electric fireplace and views of either the Kokanee glacier, gardens, forest or the original outbuildings

The Manor has a fascinating history and much has been done to retain the flavour of the place. We enjoy staying at exceptional older places like the Manor

Wonderful experience in this historical (110 years old) manor house. Colleen was excellent. Very friendly and met our needs in every way. Amazing full and very healthy breakfasts. There is a fridge and microwave made available to the guests which we took advantage of. Sitting on the patio eating our take out dinner was very nice especially when Colleen bought a candle to our table!

This was a wonderful relaxing get away. Breakfast served by our host was delicious. Evening snack time was always a treat with wonderful cheeses, crackers, fresh bread purchased locally etc. During the day we enjoyed visiting the local artisans, eating at some local restaurants or just enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the manor house. The grounds are so beautiful and the manor house is rich in history and decorated to reflect the early 1900’s when it was built. A step back in time with all the modern conveniences of today.

A very pleasant change from the norm. The hosts were exceptional. Lots of little perks. Tea and coffee on tap. Snack at 7:00 in the evening. (Don’t eat too much supper!). The breakfast room was lovely, white table cloths with silverware and the breakfast certainly wasn’t “continental”. A full course meal made to order. The rooms were large with sitting area. Our only complaint was the beds were queen size, but there was a foldout Doublesize bed in the closet. We will definitely return.

Unfortunately it was raining so we were not able to experience the area around Wedgewood as much as we would have liked. The path we did try to follow was very poorly marked. There was no TV so very quiet in the evening. The couple that managed were very kind and welcoming.

Good. Wonderful host and hostess. Excellent food, especially afternoon tea.

Problems with travel because the local ferry was only providing intermittent service. Also most of the nearby restaurants were closed because it was the very end of the season.
