Been coming to the El Rey Inn (now Court) for 30 years. With the change in ownership there is also a change in atmosphere. This was a quaint 50s-60s Route 66 Motor Court. Now it is a glorified motel trying to have a southwest flair. It has lost the charm. There is also no charming breakfast room (no breakfast at all!) Tequila is a priority over breakfast. Also, taking the $28 bottle of shampoo, or body lotion is more important than having a convenient electric plug in the room or a shower head that actually sprays water on your body. We arrived at 8 minutes to 4 (Check-in is at 3) and rooms were not ready for us. Don't expect the El Rey of yesteryear!

We stayed here on for 1 night on June 5 2019 & I just wish we had been able to stay longer. The rooms are clean, quaint & spacious. We were in a room close to the main road & across from the on-site bar but didn’t hear any noise from either. They have wonderful full sized, high end toiletries in the bathroom instead of cheap single use items. My son really enjoyed the pool & the hot tub & the beds were very comfortable.

Our room had a small shared courtyard, most don't though.
    Other Comments
Needs a lot of improvement. The bathroom faucet was 90% plugged up, I had to remove the aerator as it was plugged up. After that the water ran brown for a while and then cleared up. The inside of the fireplace glass was so dirty, you couldn't really see the gas logs or flames. Also, the spa water was the color of beef broth, YUK! and the sauna was very worn-out and small. Also, beware of staying there on hot summer days as the rooms are not air-conditioned.
