Why We Love This Hotel

  • El Rey Court is in an adobe-styled building built in 1936
  • Set on a 5-acre campus that includes a landscaped courtyard, large pool and hot tub
  • Rooms were renovated in 2018, and some feature kiva fireplaces and kitchenettes

"Excellent. Room was clean, grounds well manicured. The only downside was the road noise, but it didn’t impact our experience enough to not return."

Sure would’ve appreciated a small coffeemaker in the room.

My husband and I traveled to El Rey with our 7 month old, well-behaved dog, and our room and the grounds were lovely.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Complimentary coffee and gourmet tea in the reception area. Nice swimming pool, too! Great location, and a big park was a 5 minute walk away.

Arrived early and were able to check in right away. Lovely grounds, beautifully restored rooms, quiet and peaceful. Only drawback was no coffee setup in rooms. Apparently available on request! Otherwise, thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

It was fun to go back to the 40’s style decor. Double sinks in the bathroom was a big plus

The hotel bar and lobby are awesome! The grounds have really pretty flowers and greenery as well. The rooms are fine, nothing to get too excited about. The travelzoo price was great, but I’m not 100% sure about their normal rates. The bathroom shower head is very old and doesn’t spray super well and the room overall is pretty old, but overall it’s a really cool motel!

Parking was easy. It was extremely clean except for the floor covering. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom amenities were good. We had trouble with the door lock and maintenance was there right away to service it. The pillows did not have cases on them but the maid came quickly to make them is an old fashioned motor court that is appealing to many. The trees and landscape was a nice oasis from busy Cerrillos road.
Other Comments
I felt that we were given a less appealing room in the Alamo court because of the way we booked the room. The room was extremely basic and the floor covering was soiled.

My sister and I decided to try this hotel out as a quick getaway from Denver. We both loved this place. It has clean nicely decorated rooms with very comfortable beds and a retro (not old, a purposeful retro feel) ambiance that really gives you the feeling you are staying in a Route 66 hotel. But it’s classy. The people are great, but it also attracts a crowd of nice laid back clientele. It has a very nice pool and a great taquila bar that has live music some nights. There are all kinds of places to sit around and enjoy the lovely New Mexico evenings. We even brought out a picnic and a bottle of wine for dinner one night. The hotel itself is on a major road, but it was quiet on the grounds and we heard no traffic noise in our room and we were not too far back from the road. There are good places to eat very near to the hotel, but no restaurant at the hotel and our room had no fridge. We brought a cooler with us and the front desk was generous with ice so it worked out well for us. My sister and I both said we would definitely return to the El Rey Court.

If you go to Santa Fe take a day trip to Madrid about 30 minutes away. Cute little town. Eat at the Hollar. The chef is Cordon Bleu trained. They have a dog menu too!

I love the nostalgic feel to this modern boutique hotel. “Motor Inn”. The bar is an intimate lovely place to enjoy a drink. The lobby and grounds are beautiful. The room was large and the modern decor with a touch of SW flare was perfectly done.

I had a delightful patio room and enjoyed its privacy. Walls are paper thin so I heard conversations next door on both sides. Bed comfy though. Towels are old and could use replacing. I did not have a frig and had to ask for one and also no coffee in the room. Another requested item that did not show up. The TV also required a technician to work on. This is an old motel and needs TLC. Unluckily the hot tub out of commission and looked pretty sad. Otherwise a pleasant stay!
