The White Barn Inn’s guest rooms, suites and cottages channel coastal Maine charm and sophistication, with cozy touches like plush robes and fresh-cut flowers. Located in the coastal town of Kennebunk, the inn’s buildings date back to the 19th century, offering an “overload of post-card perfect New England charm” (Town & Country).
Occupying an 1820s barn, the “centerpiece” (Travel + Leisure) of the inn is its AAA 5-Diamond restaurant, serving a mix of Maine-inspired American and European dishes. Guests can borrow bikes (plus helmets, locks, bottled waters and a map) and explore the rocky coastline or simply relax by the inn’s heated outdoor pool (open seasonally). For an additional charge, the inn offers experiences like cooking classes or beach picnics. For ultimate tranquility, the on-site spa has rejuvenating treatments like raindrop therapy and Thai Yoga massage.
The sister town of Kennebunkport is just across the water, and the main downtown area -- Dock Square -- is bursting with nautical charm, lobster-themed restaurants and gift shops.

My husband and I traveled to the White Barn for a weekend getaway. It is walkable to the beach and to downtown Kennebunkport. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Albert and the front desk staff and we were upgraded to a garden room instead of being in the main house. Kevin took our bag to the room., which was beautiful with a huge picture window overlooking the forest. Every night there was turndown service and our towels were refreshed. Continental breakfast included fruit and sweet rolls/pastry was included. Swimming pool, which was set-back from the street was heated and the staff was attentive to any possible need one might have. Dinner was delicious (separate price, which was high) was one of the highlights of our trip. Overall, a great experience. Loved those tiny Whoopi’s pies they provided in our room upon arrival.

The picture advertising White Barn suggests you can see / be near the water - not so, it is in the woods, period. Also, there is no elevator to upper floor rooms. I was put on the 3rd floor and had to walk up & use the stairs for everything - I did not see this mentioned in their information. My room, on 3rd floor - asked to change or upgrade, answer was no - very small, no desk or bureau. Not a particularly convenient location in the woods. I might as well have been in Minnesota. Will not be back.

The only blip in the entire stay was that we were not informed that there was no elevator. Our room was on the third floor which required many trips up and down stairs. Had I known, I would have booked another room

After I bought the Travelzoo deal, I called to ask for a room with a bathtub and was told that would be no problem. Needless to say we didn't get a room with a tub. However they did offer an upgrade for $650 a night for a room with a tub. Also upon check in we were told breakfast wasn't included in our stay nor were the use of the bikes. We were told we would have to pay for breakfast and to rent the bikes. Once settled in our room that night after getting the wifi to work I looked up the details, and bikes and breakfast were included. We missed out on the bikes because the next day it rained. I also had to show them the email of what was included- how do they not know? It took 3 different people before they decided breakfast was included for us. It was extremely frustrating and very unprofessional for the white inn barn to handle it that way. We also had a $50 resort credit per night and planned to use it in the bistro our second night there. We had made reservations that day and 30 minutes before they called to say the bistro was not available because they were having their lobster bake that night. My spouse doesn't like lobster, and since we purposely planned on the bistro we didn't have attire for the fine dining room. We ended up with room service in a tiny room with no table to eat dinner that evening. My lobster bisque was barley warm and the food was overcooked. Just a disappointment overall.

The entire staff is superb! Carl (waitstaff) is exemplary. We appreciated the way the continental breakfast is served each morning in the dining room. The Inn is beautiful. We lounged by the fire with a glass of port and brandy for the perfect afternoon respite.

The property was quint, quiet, & luxurious while being understated. The best part of the experience was their family style staff!!!! It was the loving kindness and willingness to serve which is a gift from GOD ...hospitality....the staff gets it and who they are being as a team proves they get it!!!! My husband's birthday was a complete success on every level!!! We both work hard and this was a joy to be able to kick back and have others take care of us!! Thank you we will be back!!!

I hope the new company keeps it the way it was intended by the original over! They MUST take care of their staff first, reward the staff who are delivering the exceptional service and let go of any team member that is NOT in line with their brand. The property could use a few updates here and there like more landscaping, a few more hooks in the bathrooms. We noticed the heated floor only produced heat in literally one spot near the shower...maybe it was broken or maybe when it was installed it was not installed where the guest would receive the most benefit. Other than a couple updates keep it the way it is and keep the STAFF!!

The Staff were very nice and helpful giving us suggestions for things to do. The hotel was very quaint with very nice flower arrangements and nice wooden floors and ceilings. The room we stayed in had big picture windows,a comfy bed and an impressive bathroom with granite. We didn’t have dinner, but the breakfast was very good. The staff were very accommodating for my wife’s food allergies.

Everything was lovely, the facility is beautiful, afternoon Tea and Brandy & Port a nice touch -best of all was dinner (absolutely delicious) and the Bartender was wonderfully talented, friendly and professionally. Great experience.

Given that this was our first visit to the Inn, would have appreciated an overview of the facility (although it is overall small - had no idea where Tea would be served, where the Spa was, etc) - also, there is no external sign indicating "Reception" so unclear where to go when arriving at parking lot. Overall, staff were extremely helpful and professional.
