Named after St. Julian, the patron saint of travelers, this new hotel in downtown Chicago hosts guests steps from Millennium Park, the Loop and the Mag Mile. Recently opened in October 2018, this hotel lives in a revamped high-rise rebuilt from the ground up and beyond -- they added extra floors atop the former office building to add rooms with better views.

Rooms feature king or double queen beds with 300-thread-count linens, desks with wireless charging capabilities and USB outlets, along with 55-inch smart TVs with streaming capabilities. Rooms also include handheld steamers to make sure your look is on-point before heading out to dinner or drinks. Wi-Fi is covered under the daily urban fee which also includes business center access, bottled water upon arrival, in-room Nespresso coffee service and access to the on-site fitness center (with Peloton bikes).

The hotel's on-site restaurant, About Last Knife, focuses on steak-house fare including dishes like Beef Wellington, available by the slice. Breakfast and happy-hour specials are also available daily. Valet parking is also available. The hotel sits just across the street from Chicago's famous Millennium park, making this a great place to stay if you're downtown for a concert, event or festival.

design is quite urban minimal and nice, however, the MEP equipment could be better. The electrical socket has a continuous buzz, and the light in the bathroom has that too. Sliding door is very heavy to operate.

Room was a bit small. Also did not have a gift shop that carried tylenol and meds, no drugstore nearby. Did not like the $15 urban fee and it was taxed on top of the urban fee. The fact that I had to leave the hotel to search for ibuprofen to buy made me a little upset.

The location was amazing. Right off Millenium Park, within walking distance to the L. Couldn't be a better location, and the value is unbeatable. We will definitely be back next time we are in Chicago.

The bed was comfortable, the breakfast we at at the restaurant was good, and the toiletries were high quality. I liked the that the in-room refrigerator was empty and it wasn’t turned on by default, but could be done so easily when we wanted to use it. I liked the big tv on a nice swivel arm=, with wireless “casting”. The high ceilings and ample light made up for a room on the smaller side.

The “resort fee” is a little bit ridiculous, as it is supposed to be for things that a four star hotel ought to provide anyway (one single coffee capsule, internet access, a fitness center). Not a lot of frills, but it’s clear they spent the money where I’d have if it were my hotel - good beds and sheets, good toiletries, nice bathroom, comfy robes, lots of outlets, etc. The staff still seemed a little bit new and the service was a little “stiff”, but no major complains. Also, a few things in the room weren’t working - we found two burnt out light bulbs and one of the power outlets didn’t work because someone had snapped off the prongs of their plug inside it when it had been used previously. Also, 4pm check in and 11 am checkout seem a bit stingy. Also, didn’t bother us too much, but noise from adjacent rooms was fairly prominent.
