Overview

Lonely Planet describes Harrogate as "the quintessential Victorian spa town" and Country Living St George Hotel offers a "a good position for exploring the town and its surrounds" according to The Daily Telegraph.

The hotel -- a partnership of Coast and Country Hotels with Country Living magazine, a best-selling monthly home interest magazine -- is housed in Grade II-listed, former Edwardian mansion with an imposing stone façade. The interior features stained glass windows and local artwork. The open-plan lobby houses a café, and there’s a bar and a library area with leather armchairs and a pool table. The restaurant serves classic British fare and has floor-to-ceiling windows, funky lighting and plush banquettes.

It's less than a 5-minute walk from Harrogate landmarks including Bettys Tea Room, the Royal Pump Room Museum -- dedicated to the town’s spa history -- and the Montpellier Quarter, packed with boutiques, bars and cafés. The Stray, a 200-acre park in central Harrogate, is a 20-minute walk away, while Harewood House, a stunning 18th century manor housing collections of art, is about 20 minutes' drive from the hotel. Leeds, known for its unique Victorian shopping arcades, is around 40 minutes' drive away.

The room was big but found bed rather small. Said on details it was a king size however room could have taken a super king which would have been more comfortable and luxurious. noisy with traffic as on main roadside of building.

Great location. Lovely plush hotel with excellent space and comfortable rooms. Lovely decor.
Other Comments
The only negative about this hotel was the breakfast service which was slow and chaotic on both mornings we were there. This hotel is used by Shearings so we had to wait for a table on both mornings and although staff very nice, they got the order wrong, kept us waiting, served cold coffee. We loved everything else so we will be back and we will try and avoid breakfasting at the busiest times

Dining room staff need to put in more effort , the I don't care and can't be bothered attitude for both dinner and our first breakfast was appalling ,reception and bar staff could not be more helpful , and the kitchen needs to learn how to make custard, yellow water does not custard make
