One Washington Circle sits on its namesake roundabout in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood, which occupies "an enviable location" (Gayot) between Georgetown to the west, George Washington University straight south and the White House a few blocks to the east.

Even the smallest room at the hotel, measuring 360 square feet, is about 50% larger than the average hotel room in this city. All rooms have a kitchen or kitchenette, as well as walk-out balconies. Guests receive complimentary bottled water in the room, and there's complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, along with a fitness center and a seasonal outdoor pool. Pets stay free -- the staff even has a list of dog-friendly nearby parks -- and longer-term guests will enjoy the fact that you can order from the nearby Trader Joe's to stock your kitchen.

The on-site Circle Bistro features American cuisine like grilled salmon and poblano pepper ravioli, while the bar offers classic cocktails and a variety of craft beers. The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is within a 15-minute walk, and George Washington University's campus begins about two blocks away, where there's also a Metro station. Trains from here reach the National Mall in a couple of stops and can also take guests directly to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

From the press:
  • "Even this hotel’s smallest room ... is more spacious than the largest room at some other D.C. hotels" -- Frommer's
  • "Spacious rooms and attractive views a block from Foggy Bottom Metro" -- Gayot

Valet parking was expensive. Recommend getting a package that includes valet parking.

The only problem we faced was the outside noise being rather loud at night. Also the blinds were not big enough to completely cover the window, so outside people could see inside and light from outside spilled into the room.

The location is great! so close to so many things and a very short walk to the Foggy Bottom metro It may be a little noisy at night for some due to the very close proximity of the hospital and lots of sirens of ambulances and fire trucks. The room with the kitchenette is very spacious and accommodating.

No hot water on the last day of our stay. We were forced to take very cold showers that morning! We mentioned it at checkout. They said an engineer had been called because other guests had complained, but there was no offer to compensate us for the inconvenience.
