"The cottage, really a brand new three-storey duplex, was tastefully furnished, comfortable, and had great beds. The kitchen was modern and well-equipped. The grounds looked well maintained."
With three wineries, art galleries, shops and a 3,200-yard golf course, Salt Spring Island has something for everyone. These cottages are a five-minute drive from the island's main hub, Ganges -- we visited the town and loved the quaint cafes, boutique shops and friendliness of the people.
All the units on the resort have views of Bullock Lake, as well as two bathrooms, a full kitchen and a fireplace. Travelzoo members who previously stayed here loved the spacious accommodations and "beautiful interiors."
Salt Spring Island's Saturday Market runs from either the first weekend in April or Easter weekend (whichever comes first) through the last Saturday in October. Peruse stalls selling from local food and art to international pottery and clothing.
The self-guided Salt Spring Island Studio Touris a great way to see the island's many skilled artists and culinary treats. It's free and some studios offer demonstrations or workshop tours.
Ruckle Provincial Park -- a 25-minute drive from the resort -- is popular for hiking and wildlife viewing, and is "one of the most beautiful parks in the southern Gulf Islands" (British Columbia Magazine).
From the press: "Salt Spring Island is a hot destination -- but that won't change its folksy charm and rustic magic" (The Globe and Mail)

Unfortunately, it rained heavily throughout our visit and we could not avail ourselves of the canoes or lake or barbeque. This is not to disparage the resort, as the offerings were quite satisfactory, but we were reduced to driving around Saltspring Island, which is rather uninteresting, just row after row of houses.

It was raining unfortunately and off season, which is not a reflection on The Cottages. We were almost the only ones there, so it's hard to actually judge what they'd be like if full and the summer season. Having said that, we were most pleasantly surprised with the interior and comfortable beds at The Cottages. Allowing dogs were definitely a bonus.

The fridge in the cottage stopped working. Tammie checked it out but couldn't get it to work so offered to move us into another cottage. It was our last night and we didn't want to move. Later on in the late afternoon she came by with a box of mini cupcakes made locally. It was a very nice touch.

The size and ambience of the cottage. The number of bathrooms. The ease of stay. Pet friendly!

I had a wonderful time staying at the cottages. There was plenty of room for four adults, a baby and a dog in our 2 bdrm duplex cottage. We also booked the other half of our duplex for two more adults and spent all our time in one cottage. The kitchen has all the amenities needed for cooking meals for 6 adults. The staff were very helpful, they popped down right away when an issue arose. I will definitely be staying at the cottages again and recommending to friends!
