Overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Sooke Harbour House is renowned for its rugged beauty and orca watching. Guests can be seen strolling and sampling the expansive edible gardens.

Art thrives at this hotel: The interior is bedecked with paintings and works of more than 150 local artists. The on-site art gallery is open daily and entry is free. Artwork can also be purchased at the gift shop. After perusing the gallery, get in on the beachfront action steps away, where sea lions and otters are frequently seen sunbathing.

The acclaimed Sooke Harbour House Restaurant was the recipient of a 2016 OpenTable Diners' Choice award. The menu changes daily to keep things fresh, and ingredients are local and organic.

Each individually decorated room offers views of the ocean from a private balcony, soaker tubs and wood-burning fireplaces.

From the press:
  • “[Sooke Harbour House] has earned an international reputation for the warmth of its welcome, the quality of its food and lodging, and the drama of its vistas” -- Frommer’s

Enjoyed Most: Waterfront location
Other Comments: Beautiful spot but overpriced for what you get, particularly the restaurant. No option to purchase a different meal other than the $80.00 per person set menu. Too expensive for a romantic get away..

Enjoyed Most: The ambiance and views.
Other Comments: Their attention to the details makes the stay over-the-top. Being surrounded by lovely art, something to look at in every nook and cranny. The warmth of crackling fires in big fireplaces on these foggy and wet November days. Never get tired of the views.
Karen Nov 16, 2015 Surrey, BC, Canada
Enjoyed Most: The excellent and friendly service, the elegant and delicious meals and the spacious, comfortable rooms with fireplaces and gorgeous views.
Jennifer Nov 10, 2015 Victoria, BC, Canada
Enjoyed Most: The setting was lovely and the food was spectacular.
Other Comments: The carpet in our room was very worn and the scatter rug was tattered so I think an update would be in order. Maybe wood flooring with a new scatter rug?
