  • Features private beaches, outdoor pool, fire pits and rec. center with yoga classes
  • Waterfront seafood restaurant is open for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch

Overview

First constructed as barracks for Fort McKinley in the 1890s, the Inn at Diamond Cove is now a peaceful destination where guests can unwind on Maine’s Great Diamond Island or explore its surrounding waters. Open Memorial Day through Columbus Day, the inn rests on a car-free island, and visitors are transported by golf carts and bicycles.

Guest rooms feature free Wi-Fi, hardwood floors, granite-top bathroom vanities, plush bathrobes, microwaves, coffeemakers, and pillowtop mattresses; guests have the choice of one king or two queen beds, and most rooms have private balconies.

Diamond’s Edge, the property’s waterfront restaurant, serves local seafood and New England favorites for breakfast, lunch and dinner; room service is also available. The inn’s grounds include private beaches and wooded walking paths as well as a recreational hall with an indoor basketball court, an exercise studio with guided yoga classes and an antique duckpin bowling lane. All guests can enjoy the lobby lounge’s double fireplace as well as the outdoor fire pit. The heated outdoor pool includes a whirlpool tub and cabana bar serving handcrafted cocktails and snacks.

Guests can reach the property by taking a water taxi, the Casco Bay Lines Ferry service or by private boat, which can be moored in the on-site marina.

The very gracious young woman who discussed the situation with me.

Our booking was scheduled for Sept. 23, 2018 . Ten days before that date I investigated the ferry and on island dining reservations. The ferry enters seasonal mode as of Sept 22 with departures only early in the morning and at 545 pm . Water taxis are a very expensive option had they only answered their phones. The hotel dining restaurant had long since closed for the season. A long planned vacation was blown out of the water because this was not mentioned in the Travelzoo propaganda as it most certainly should have. I had a long and very productive conversation with the hotel admin as this process evolved and they were very surprised Travelzoo did not represent them accuratly. They were the ones who offered full refund which I gratefully accepted. it was too late to make new plans and i am deeply disappointed with Travelzoo and the year they robbed us of our Maine destination. you realize i can barely comment on these catagories because we never were able to go.

The gulf cart guys were very professional and fun. The inn was very beautiful. They did upgrade our room because we had to wait so long, but it was the furthest away from our friends we could get and was in the basement.
Other Comments
Arrived 4 hours early which they knew about and did not even work to get our rooms clean and ready in a timely matter. Did not accommodate us regarding us being close to our friends room. TV didn't work and the sheets had pills. Didn't like sleeping in a basement. Was not able to use the pool in the morning because of scheduled cleaning (2 hours). Food was very expensive and not at all worth the money. A lot of children around making a lot of noise and bothered us in the hot tub.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Dinner at Diamond Edge was superb. Breakfast at Inn was delicious. Accommodations lovely. Our only complaint would be "short staffed" We are finding that all over this summer, that there is just not enough help out there. Other than that it was a wonderful trip.

We asked to be near our friends and ended on the opposite side of hotel. Good way to expensive for what you got. I ordered an Italian grinder and bread was steal. Kids riding bikes around dining area not good. Place was beautiful and well kept. Would be nice not to walk back to boat.

The wait staff were very friendly. We had Ivan as our waiter who was excellent and very attentive to our needs. Jane who drove the golf cart was also very nice and friendly.
Other Comments
We didn’t think the receptionist at the desk was very attentive. She just gave us our room key but didn’t explain anything about the Inn.
