Sandwiched between the Champs Elysées and the designer boutiques on the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Hotel Rochester Champs Elysées is a smart hotel in a well-heeled location. Sights like the Arc de Triomphe and the Opera are both within walking distance, and St Philippe du Roule metro station (line 9) is just around the corner, for swift transfers to the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre.

There’s no restaurant in the hotel, but guests can stop by the cozy paneled bar for an apéritif before exploring the local dining options -- try the Rue de Berri and Rue Marbeuf, just two blocks away, for traditional French cuisine. For more upmarket fare, there's Pierre Gagnaire on the Rue Balzac and Lasserre (the former haunt of Audrey Hepburn and Marlene Dietrich) on Avenue Franklin D Roosevelt -- both with Michelin stars and within a 15-minute walk.

Back at the hotel, there’s a small spa specializing in massages and facials plus a tiled steam room and fitness suite. A breakfast buffet is served in the chic dining room or outside in the courtyard, and includes a choice of pastries, cold meats, cheeses and eggs. Breakfast is available 7am - 2pm.

The bedrooms have large windows and are mostly traditional in design, with some modern pops of color. Most face the leafy inner courtyard -- they are quieter than those facing the street -- and entry-level rooms are on the smaller side. Suites have separate sitting rooms and the Privilege Junior Suites open directly onto the courtyard.

Enjoyed Most: The location and the modern room decor. I also loved the comfortable bath tub!
Other Comments: Our package included breakfast and it was good, even after 10 days of the same thing. I'm not sure I'd pay too much more for it though, since there are so many fantastic places to eat in Paris.

Enjoyed Most: Fabulous position near to the Champs Elysees. A beautiful room, very large and also quiet considering its a busy area. The breakfast was all morning which is very good for late risers.
Other Comments: Nothing we would definately stay here again.

Enjoyed Most: The Rochester Hotel was recently refurbished to a good standard. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. During my stay I think the hotel was fairly empty, no atmosphere and no buzz about it. Although the staff were efficient, they seemed a bit bored and disinterested - understandably. The Franklin Roosevelt was brilliant, smaller but very comfortable, friendly staff and well positioned. I couldn't fault this hotel.
Other Comments: The deals I got through Zoo were great - I stay a lot in Paris and always look what's on offer. The best has to be the Franklin Roosevelt; about the same distance from the Champs Elysees as The Rochester but very comfortable with a good ambience. However, I'm sure the Rochester could be great if there were some people there.
