Potentially the situation at the head of the River Teign is a bonus but we were in the back lodge, overlooking the car park, so it was wasted on us!

Had to go to another building for reception/restaurant - fine in good weather but we got soaked on the first night. Rooms very bland and almost cell like. Bathroom ok but shower was inadequate and very difficult to turn off. Staff unwelcoming, almost surly. Dinner on first night had a limit of £30 per head (we weren't told about this until we read the menu). Very pricey so didn't run to 3 courses and coffee so didn't have dessert only to be told when we came to leave that we would have to pay for the coffee as it wasn't included in the meal! They relented - eventually. Food was fair only - one of our meals arrived incomplete so had to be sent back, the second was advertised on the menu as a pork chop etc but turned out to be a pork steak - a much smaller and cheaper cut of meat. Breakfast was reasonable but, on each morning, our breakfasts were paraded around the dining room for a while by the waiter before he found who they belonged to. A little bit of organisation would go a long way!

Not enough milk and coffee left in the room as my wife likes milky coffee. Breakfast was lukewarm on both mornings of our stay, not good at all.

Good priced break, clean and decent facilities, good food.

Shower grab handles needed as the baths have curved bottoms. Perhaps a bit of colour in the bedrooms?

Every thing was good. We did have to pay extra for a room in the main hotel with a view, which was a shame. Would have liked our dog to have been welcomed. !!

The view from the conservatory area, it was this view that made us return. Sadly the view from our downstairs bedroom in the South Lodge was practically non-existent.
Other Comments
The evening meal was really disappointing. Definitely gone downhill since our previous visit.
