For those visiting the city to sightsee, the Holiday Inn Manhattan 6th Avenue is a solid budget pick set within a 10-block radius to the Empire State Building, Herald Square and Madison Square Garden.
Thankfully it's just far enough outside the tourist zone that travelers get better value for their money and the opportunity to stay in fashionable Chelsea, home to hundreds of art galleries, top-rated restaurants and the scenic High Line park.
Room here are on the smaller side (about 200 square feet), but the hotel's location and touches like free in-room Wi-Fi and the choice of soft or firm pillows make up for the lack of wiggle room.
Downstairs there's a newly renovated Italian restaurant and bar where kids under 12 get a free breakfast with a paying adult. It also serves lunch and dinner.
Three subway lines are withing a five-minute walk from the Holiday Inn, so guests can easily head uptown to take selfies in Central Park or downtown to rub elbows with socialites in the Meatpacking District.
