Hailed as the Queen of the Welsh Resorts for over a century, Llandudno retains its reputation as a picturesque seaside resort, with a smart promenade lined with Victorian townhouses. The Belmont Llandudno is a new hotel housed in a traditional building on North Parade with sweeping views of the bay.

You can walk a couple of minutes to the Great Orme Tramway terminus and catch a ride along the 1.5-kilometre route into Great Orme Country Park and Nature Reserve (you can also take a cable car). The Great Orme Mines, which date back 4000 years to the Bronze Age, are open daily for visits.

Llandudno Pier -- the longest in Wales -- is five minutes' walk from the hotel. Alternatively, you can head to West Shore beach, a golden-sand bay backed by rugged cliffs, which is a 20-minute walk away on the other side of Llandudno's town centre. It's great for flying kites and picnics.

Conwy, a walled market town that's home to a medieval castle and the smallest house in Britain, is 15 minutes' drive away.

Be aware that as with lots of hotels and B & B at Llandudno there was no parking. Parking is on the street in and around Llandudno so you may need to drop your bags off and then park your car. There are streets around the hotel where you can park for free, but paid parking is only £4.50 a day.

Our room was excellent: modern with a comfortable bed, very clean and well equipped with a spectacular view along the promenade. There was no air conditioning which may bother some people but with the window slightly open to a gentle sea breeze I found it perfect. There was plenty of choice for breakfast. I chose to have a cooked English which was great and was served quickly with a smile. We didn't have dinner in the hotel as we were visiting relatives who had arranged to take us out but if breakfast is anything to go by we'll certainly have dinner next time.

We enjoyed the whole experience on our two night stay. All of the staff were friendly and helpful - in particular Reece and Louise - I don't know if I've spelt their names correctly. Parking is a bit of a problem for some but I guess I was lucky to find a parking spot just across the road. For £4.50 a day I didn't have to move the car. The hotel is ideally situated for the pier, promenade and the shops. Oh! and the cable car and tram if you like that sort of thing.

Rooms were very warm. Wasn’t a good start when we were given certain keys for a room on second floor and the keys didn’t work. We were then told our room would be on third floor and we had to struggle to the above floor with our luggage.
