Panoramic views of the Cornish coastline and 16th-century Pendennis Castle spread out from the "very friendly" (The AA) Royal Duchy Hotel. This classic lodging dating from 1893 is set on a tranquil stretch of Falmouth's seafront, just a 15-minute walk from the town centre, known for its bustling harbour, National Maritime Museum and waterside pubs. Many of Cornwall's most picturesque sights including St Ives, home to the Tate art gallery, Truro with its grand cathedral, and the Lizard peninsula, the UK mainland's most southerly point, are within an hour's drive of the hotel.

There's a refined feel to The Royal Duchy Hotel’s interiors, which include an elegant, 2-AA-Rosette restaurant serving British cuisine with Mediterranean and Asian influences, a cosy lounge bar with a sea-view terrace offering light meals and cream teas, and a smart, granite-topped cocktail bar. The hotel's palm-fringed lawn is dotted with sunloungers, and leisure amenities include an indoor pool, a spa area with a sauna, and a snooker room. Kids can head for the playroom and the outdoor games area.

Soft neutral tones and plush fabrics characterise the hotel's 45 guestrooms, all of which include free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and ensuite bathrooms with designer toiletries. Some rooms have sea views and a sitting space, while upgraded options feature heated floors and views of the castle. The hotel's classy suite comes with a lounge area and a handy set of binoculars, and family rooms with bunk beds are also available.

We've also negotiated a champagne afternoon tea and spa treat for two for £49 -- saving you up to 47% off.

Can't really say which was the best as we enjoyed the whole holiday,we upgraded to a modernised room, with a lovely view, first class could not fault the room or the staff.
Other Comments
My only comment would be the lack of proper decaffeinated coffee at breakfast and in the room,as we had a coffee machine, this was provided by the staff when we mentioned it,so not complaining, just mentioning,I hope that this will now become a permanent fixture, and that they will now provide it at breakfast, small point otherwise great stay
