Offering a sophisticated stay among the antique stores, cafés and boutiques of the quaint Lanes district, the upscale Hotel du Vin is set on a cobblestoned alleyway leading down to the seafront. This refined lodging occupies a Gothic-style former merchant’s house dating from the 17th century and is located within a 10-minute walk of both the striking Royal Pavilion, and Brighton Museum & Art Gallery.
Hotel du Vin’s historic façade opens to interiors with a cosmopolitan vibe. Wood-beamed ceilings, exposed brickwork and plush leather seating decorate the polished, split-level bar and there’s an elegant bistro with light wood accents and banquettes, serving a French-inspired menu. Guests can dine al fresco under a vine-covered canopy in the hotel’s courtyard and enjoy wine tasting sessions in the cave-like wine cellar.
Spread throughout the quirky Gothic and mock Tudor buildings, the 49 rooms have chic décor with beach-inspired accents. Alternatively trains run from London Victoria station to Brighton station, taking approximately one hour; the station is around 15 minutes’ walk from the hotel. Buses also run from Victoria to Brighton coach station taking approximately 75 minutes; the coach station is a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
