"If you’re after a spot of luxury, look no further than this chic Regency townhouse turned boutique hotel," says Lonely Planet. This Condé Nast Traveler-recommended hotel is nestled in the heart of the idyllic town of Chipping Campden, at the start of the Cotswolds Way National Trail.

The Regency townhouse, which sits among acres of well-kept gardens, combines history and character with contemporary touches. Elle magazine says it's the "best place to stay in the village," and Harper's Bazaar calls it a "dream designer pad."

The spa is a real highlight, set in a converted coach house in the hotel grounds. Guests get free access to the facilities, including six treatment rooms, an aromatic steam room, a hydrotherapy pool and a nail bar.

The bedrooms all feature free Wi-Fi, Bang & Olufsen entertainment centers, tea- and coffee-making facilities, solid antique dressing tables, and fluffy bathrobes. Most have views of the pretty gardens or overlooking the village’s historic high street. Upgrade to a Cottage Room for more space. These are separate to the main house, located in the gardens.

The Cotswold Grill restaurant is open every day for breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea. The menu features locally sourced produce, with classics such as ham hock, Gressingham duck and apple pie. In warmer weather, the Pavilion Terrace in the hotel garden is a pleasant place to enjoy a coffee or lunch.

Enjoyed Most: Warm and cosy room, friendly staff, great breakfast.
Other Comments: I did speak about this at the time, but availability at the Spa for treatments was a problem. Tried to book 2 x 1h treatments but nothing at all was available during our two night stay. Maybe if the hotel had sent a Spa brochure and a note to book early before arrival? Or have a couple of hours worth of slots left open each day, say for example the Spa closes for non-residents at 5 and 5-7 is left for guests??
